Why do I constantly get random friend requests on Facebook from Nigerian women that I don't even know?

I find it kind of strange, and I'm tired of having to block them. Why would someone like that take interest in me?

They know you're poor, so they want to marry you, so they can become American citizens and support you with the money their boyfriends will give them.

One of my friends is having random people friend request her too. I think it is either a scam, like people wanting to take advantage of you; a computerized account that is really no one; or someone just wanting to make new friends. But in that situation, as I told my friend, just keep blocking, because I wouldn't want to take an un-called-for chance. :)

Don't bother blocking them; the accounts are fake and just disappear after a week or two if you never accept the request.

It's not just Nigerians. There are trolls of every stripe spamming into facebook. Do not accept their friend requests. Block them. Narrow your preference to be only seen by "friends" or groups you trust, but when you join fan groups and such, you open yourself back up to being followed by trolls that also follow those groups.

Everyone gets friend requests from nigerian women you donlt know, they seem to be very promiscuous.  Never replied myself as I value my money/personal information.

Continue to block and don’t respond to these types of emails.

For some reason they think you have lots of money. Nigerian users are almost always scammers catfishing for a moron to send them money.

You must be the last person on Earth who does not know this is a scam.  They with worm into your life, tell you a sob story, and  try to get money from you by hacking into accounts, or convincing you to send them money.  Duh.
