    Generally, it is recommended to rest for the first few days or first week following surgery. However, regular movement like walking can help increase recovery time and is encouraged as soon as you safely can.

    you follow your doctor's orders and most hernias are repaired with a mesh lining

    None. Your recovery is fastest if you are mildly active and rest as soon as you tire. Walking around is actually good for your recovery.
