Turned off water at my house. Reactivated and now getting sewage backup in the tub?
I had the water company turn off the water at my house as I was no longer going to be living there and the house was going to be rented out (hindsight: I shouldn't even have bothered and left it alone). A couples weeks later we had the water re-activated for the new tenants and now they are experiencing sewage backup through the tub and shower.
It's 4 year old house and only and me and my wife lived there. We never dumped anything we shouldn't have dumped in the toilet to have possibly clog the sewage line.
We had plumbers run a snake down but they couldn't find the problem with it.
Is it possible that when I shut off the water for the property that something got clogged when reactivating something?

There is ABSOLUTELY ZERO connection between the supply lines and the drains.
Your story proves you are INCOMPETENT, not only as a landlord, but as a troll.

When build up in drains is allowed to dry, it can clog the drain lines. This can happen anywhere within the drain system, from traps to the main.

not possible. the next step is to call the utility company about the sewer -- you've snaked it out so the clog is in their part of the system -- in my community, the fix is on them [zero further cost to you] and will be done within 24 hours. -- grampa

It sounds like the drain traps have dried out and are smelling. Put water down them and do it once a month. Grampa B

No. Shutting off your water won’t cause your drains to become clogged. They’re separate systems. There could be several possible causes of the drain backing up but shutting off the water is not one. It could be something as simple as your tenants using too much toilet paper. This could cause a temporary blockage and back up into the tub. Once the paper blob passes, no more blockage and nothing for the plumber to find with a snake. It could be something more serious like a crushed drain line. Say, for instance, if your moving company drove over your lawn. The truck could have crushed your sewer pipe. That would require a plumber to inspect.
