Herd Immunity was the de facto 45 Admin Covid policy. Was a collateral benefit (or even a goal) to kill off unproductive sick/old people?

It certainly appeared that producing death was just collateral damage to Herd Immunity to preserve the fabled economy that would get him reelected.

There were even those who said publicly that losing some people was no big loss (TX Lt Gov Dan Patrick said "As a senior citizen, are you willing to take a chance on your survival" to save the economy? "I’m all in" he said).

So who cares if a bunch of old geezers (mostly in Blue cities & states who wouldn't vote Republican  anyway)?

Update:

Perfect: Of course - egregious oversight on my part

u_bin: Mistakes were made before Covid was as well understood as it is now. Cuomo has admitted as much.

BIG DIFFERENCE: Trump never admits anything.

OTHER BIG DIFFERENCE: Death was NOT the GOAL of ACA. But it sure looks like a goal of Trump!

Update 2:

u_bin: Not arguing any of what you say. But NONE of that what-aboutism addresses the question posed. Total fail, as always with you.

And minorities.   They were going to put precautions in place but they found that it affected minorities at a disproportionate rate and scrapped any plans two days later.

Trump said early on that it was a "Democrat hoax," and that it would "disappear" during the summer. He was praising the Chinese for their handling of it; that was before he was blaming the Chinese for creating it. He also said that the number of cases would go to "zero." That was 300,000 deaths ago.

Trump minimized the seriousness of the virus in Jan. and Feb. because he didn't want to antagonize the Chinese before the had signed on to the new trade "deal," which was one of his campaign promises. He never cared about the deaths.

honestly...... it's like New York never even happened, isn't it?

to refresh your memory, NY turned into the COVID death capital of America when doctors wanting to move elderly patients out of nursing homes were overruled by government bureaucrats and out-of-state insurance administrators......thanks to powers given them under the Affordable Care Act... this caused 2-3 cases per home to turn into 40-50.... and for 2-3 deaths to turn into hundreds...

....and Cuomo did nothing because his priority was to protect the state's precious insurance reserves from which the government was skimming much-needed income to fund other bloat and graft...

that was all changed when the Pence-led Administration task force met with NY state doctors and medical officials and asked what they needed... when they unanimously said "get rid of these crippling federal regulations" Pence returned to DC and Trump began to roll back as much regulation as possible via Executive Orders... one of Cuomo's health officials thanked Trump personally in an April NPR interview..

and as for "minorities"... here is bluer than blue California, Hispanics are dying at nearly TRIPLE the rate of other ethnicities...but our democratic leadership says its because they are being "forced" to work so it would be "unfair to burden them further" by enforcing COVID restrictions in their neighborhoods... because of this, street fairs, food stands and other gatherings have been allowed since June...
