has anyone used amsoil 20wt50 in all 3 holes in their Harley Davidson? ?

I had our parts guy set me up with oil, transmission fluid and primary fluid. When I got home I noticed he gave me 4 quarts of 20wt30 amsoil and its supposed to be good in all 3 . I however always use primary fluid. Transmission fluid and motor oil respectively. I read online that its fine. I know lots of shops use one oil in all 3 but Im old school and never have. Im home .Bike is on my lift and I dont feel like going  out just to get a quart of transmission oil if this stuff works.

Return the order and tell the parts guy to order the oils that are recommended in the manual.

Our shop does that but I Dont. I also dont with any customers bike on my lift but thats just me. Next time? Grab stuff myself and ignore our parts guy!

You ask about 20w-50, yet text says you received  20w-30?

I'd Never run in 20W-30  In  a H/D in Arizona. Especially Phoenix-Metro or Yuma.  Not even in Show Low in winter. .I used 20W-50  even in my cool-running Honda in Tucson..

I've used Harley V Twin  Synth.20W-50  oil in all 3.  Amsoil Synth, later,  yes. Even Mobil 1 20w-50w when I had to  save for a wedding ring. All worked fine.(Bike is an 88" Twin Cam)

Someone on a forum "swore" Dexron IV was "best" for primaries. I can Not tell any difference. Still,  that first gear CLUNK !  when cold.  I  think, only  "difference" would be going to a Barnett clutch..

(Talk about : " paying for a name"..I'm surprised Harley doesn't void warranty if U don't use Their oil.  I get Amsoil competitively at  ACE hardware on 22nd. What is High is Royal Purple..lotta hype for it  )

I run 85W-140  synth in my gearbox. 40 K on her, no problems shifting, if not starting out cold in 1st.

EDIT: The discussion is Not FXR's that only have one fill hole. Apples and Oranges. Harley Orange.

I use Canola oil in my 82 FXR.  Makes the clutch grab like crazy.

you should use the proper weight gear oil in the tranny. and as someone else pointed out, **** amsoil. You're paying good money for a name. Any quality motor oil that meets the specs will do.

I would never buy Amsoil products. Way over priced and no better than many other brand names.

Send the order back, you asked for oil, tranny, and primary fluid.
