Why do alot of Americans want socialism? As if they can’t see that it fails in nearly every country? I’m American btw. ?

I'm tired of reading that socialism is schools, roads, fire & police. Those are not. Ancient Greece, Rome, Israel & others had that. Nor is Scandinavia an example. They have a market based economy.
No, socialism is a marriage of business & government. Laws exist for business & business gets the labor they need. The government controls prices for business. That is why poverty increases & middle class decreases.
Children have an emotional need for parents. But, our children are sent to "day" care & early schooling. The bond is made with teachers, not parents. When at home, TV is "quality" time. Children learn how to act by watching. So, children are indoctrinated daily. Silicon Valley kids go to a private school, parents interact, no TV, no computers. They read books, exercise, do sports, do homework in a library, talk to adults & parents are welcome. Why are they different?

First, it hasn't failed in any country because there are no socialist countries. Venezuela is NOT a socialist country. And for the record neither are Norway, Sweden, or Denmark. They have socialized programs within a capitalist framework, which makes them no different from the United States. But they are not socialist countries. Please stop calling them that.
Second, Americans don't want socialism anyway. They want democratic socialism.
Third, we live in a country where 644 billionaires collectively raked in 1,000,000,000,000 dollars during a pandemic while ordinary citizens are losing their jobs, their insurance, and their homes. There are literally breadlines in Texas. Social programs coming to the rescue of hungry Americans because capitalism clearly is not working in their favor.

'Socialism' is a blanket term that alarmists have thrown at every single thing they disagree with for the past couple of decades.

I don't think they do want socialism. They want a kinder, more socially responsible slant on established American values. They want free enterprise with a framework of consumer protections. They want people to stand on their own two feet to the best of their ability but with support for those who are struggling to achieve that. They want a fair society with equal opportunities, accepting that equal outcomes depend on the individual. They want to reduce the massive public debt that has built up in recent years. They want the USA to regain its standing in the world and for it to take an active role in the international bodies it has neglected recently, which has created opportunities for Chinese over-representation. These are all things that are in keeping with American values and nothing close to socialism.

The young generation wants it because it looks good on paper to them, until they see it in practice. They want everything for free and feel entitled to it. When you grow older, you realize that socialism just doesn't work. This is why you see more on the Left being young (and I hate to say it, but stupid as well). When you are older, you become more wiser, and you start researching your own things. You can't beat wisdom over intelligence. With Socialism, we can't all be rich, but we can be equally poor.

We've had forms of democratic socialism for a very long time. Social security, medicare, public school, military, police, fire department, etc.
