My friend was wondering my friend got a flu shot and she went back to cvs to get one and pharmacy says you can only get one every two years because the flu shot she already have is still working on her body. Is this a great advice?

You are suppose to get it every year - BUT - you should get it at about the same time every year.

So, if the last time you had a flu shot was in October - then you would get your next one in about October of the following year.

If she just had a flu shot in this past fall - then she has the current shot and doesn't need one until the next fall.

In the US - it is not restricted by age or risk category.  So, if in the US, the only reason to be denied a flu shot would be if they have the current formulation and need to wait a few more months for the next version.  Flu shots are slightly different every year because they try to predict which strain of flu is most likely to be dominant for that flu season.  The newest version of the flu shot is usually released in the fall - usually around September or October.

I dunno if it's the same where you're at, but here in the U.K., you've gotta fall into one of the "vulnerable" groups named, in order to be entitled to it, to the best of my knowledge.

The shot is different every year.  She probably has the current shot.

It depends on your overall health. If you are perfectly healthy then i wouldn't bother getting flu shots. However, if you have server asthma or copd or other medical conditions then it would be a good idea to get a flu shot.

Have you ever heard the saying "You never catch the same cold twice?" Same for flus. It's a different strain every year, meaning the flu shots have to be adjusted and changed every year, too. I wouldn't trust CVS, honestly. They are lying. It's a different shot every single year.

You are SUPPOSED to get it every year.
