Did Trump actually want to lose the last election?

The fact is, he knew how dangerous COVID-19 is back in March of 2020, and he still went ahead and encouraged his supporters to get together in big events, without masks or social distancing.  He MUST have known this would spread the virus and damage the hell out of the economy.  If the virus hadn't wrecked the economy, he probably would have WON.  Why didn't he protect the USA by giving us good advice about the virus, so he could save his presidency?

Update:

Yeah, I know -- everybody knows that maybe 50 million Trump supporters still claim that the Donald won and Biden lost.  But the courts and many Republican officials at the state level say that's nonsense.  But whether you're a true believer in Trump's cause or not, he still denied the COVID-19 threat, encouraged his own followers to get sick, and screwed up the economic boom that his policies had helped to fuel.

why do this -- when he could have told us the truth and gotten reelected?

Update 2:

Note to Trump critics below - you say he wanted to win, was desperate to win -- but he DIDN'T win because he screwed up on protecting us from the virus.  Why?

When will you understand that NO ONE give's a dam what Orange Fraud wanted or didn't want.  We know that we're now rid of him, & that's not merely a good thing.  It' the VERY BEST thing.

No, he really wanted to win, and was willing to (and probably did) cheat before, and certainly tried to cheat after.

Trump is only interested about himself, and the prospect of no longer being president meant that he could no longer coerce people to silence, claim some kind of immunity, or argue that he could pardon himself. Once out of power, he becomes fair game of justice and he knows what is at stake with what he did: life without parole behind bars.

The fat bozo did not give a @)&$ about people being sick and dying of covid, that was way beyond his ability to understand and articulate the consequences of his own actions.

Short of declaring Martial Law immediately upon Pence's Masonic move, he had no option but to surrender. The true win was in at midnight, November 3rd, 2020.

No, he wanted to win and he won in a landslide with around 75% of the vote.

What we saw since is the level of corruption in the US.

    This is the real result:

He wanted to win because it was the only way to avoid paying the piper, which is Trump's raison d'etre.

Yeah right, the insurrectionist wanted to win at all cost.

He thought it would be worse in blue states than in red states (which was initially true, but not for very long) and that voters would blame either China or Democrats and would vote for him.  It didn't work, obviously.

Because, even though you have analyzed it beautifully, he was not smart enough to figure it out.  On top of that, he lives in a delusional or demented world where he engages in magical thinking.  It has worked for him before, but unfortunately for him, he ran into something he couldn't spin, lie about, insult or scare:  the virus.
