CATHOLICS: Why do you accept the Apocrypha as scripture? ?

Well...they don't.

They accept a group of documents known as "the Deuterocanon".

Not included in the Deuterocanon: 1 & 2 Esdras and The Prayer of Manasseh

(Those documents normally ARE included in the English Apocrypha.)

They accept the Deuterocanon because that was the official decision made at The Council of Trent.

Why was that the official decision made at the council of Trent?

My OPINION as to why the council of Trent made that decision:

All of those documents were explicitly authorized (approved) in early councils, namely: The Council of Laodicea and The Council of Carthage. Since 1 & 2 Esdras and The Prayer of Manasseh were not explicitly authorized in any early councils, the Roman Catholic Church rejected them.

Excepting The Book of Baruch (approved at The Council of Laodicea), all of the other documents in the Roman Catholic Bible had been included in the Latin Vulgate (the book that was first actually called "the Bible") since the oldest copies of the Vulgate that the officials at Trent knew.

SO, in other words (in my opinion), their thinking was:

A - All of these documents have been included in the Vulgate since its origin

- - - except for Baruch, which had been included for only a few centuries as of the time of the Council of Trent

B - All of those documents, including Baruch, were approved by 4th century Councils

- - - that is to say: even before the first Vulgate was produced

C - Therefore, all of those documents have been approved since ancient times, officially, and are therefore both by tradition and by previous official ruling part of the Bible

Because Jesus did and Jesus personally gave us Catholics the authority to make those types of decisions..

God says he sent them strong delusion because they had no love for the truth.

For the same reason they worship idols and statues and pray to them which is against God’s Laws.    

Catholics think they are above God’s laws.   They add all those apocryphal books knowing they are false books that do not come from God.   He will punish those that add to the Bible.    Some do not know because they don’t read the Bible, but ignorance will not save anyone.   

The Canon was established by the Catholic Church. I believe what the Catholic Church teaches. The Bible warns that in latter days, people would do and believe whatever they felt like. They are not to be confused with Christians, despite what they claim.

The books of the apocrypha, those dated between the old and new testament writings, were and are not include for these reasons: 1) they have doctrinal errors; 2) Jesus did not quote from any of them; 3) the Jews rejected them; and 4) they do not assert inspiration or authority from God. Basically, they have some historical value, but that is it. 

Note what Jerome, who created the Vulgate translation in 382 AD, had to say about the Apocrypha: "Therefore as the church indeed reads Judith, Tobit and the books of Maccabees, but does not receive them among the canonical books, so let it also read these two volumes for the edification of the people but not for establishing the authority of ecclesiastical dogmas." In other words, THEY HAVE SOME HISTORICAL VALUE, but should not be used for theological purposes. Q.E.D.

All Christians should accept them.  There were in the Bible canon established by the Cristian Church in the late 300's.  Luther removed them.  Talk about hutzpah.

Those books were rejected by the Jewish people in the Old Testament.  They were never a part of the Bible.  The true Bible is 66 Books, and the King James Bible is perfect.  The Bible was complete and compiled in the 90s AD, hundreds of years before catholicism existed.  Catholic beliefs lead to torments in hell because they add works to salvation (and "purgatory" doesn't exist).  So get completely away from catholicism.  Here is what is true:  Death leads to immediate heaven or hell, and it is too late to be saved, after death.  To be in heaven and not hell, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is God and who died on the cross and shed His blood to pay for all of our sins in full, and who was buried, and who resurrected from the dead.  The only way to avoid hell is by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, without adding any of your own works.  See Romans 4:5, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, and John 3:16.
