Should I pay the total hotel price by myself, or have my sis, cousin, and two college friends pay a share equally divided by the five of us?

My birthday is in August, and I wanted to celebrate it in Galveston, Tx by staying at a hotel there for two nights. However, I'm stuck in the dilemma if I should cover the total $650 suite hotel room for five fees, or have the rest of the girls pay an equal share along with mine; which is dividing the $650 by five. So far, my sis and cousin don't mind paying their portion, even though my cousin is saying that her share of $130 is a bit pricey for a two night stay. Also, for some strange reason most hotels are really pricey in August and I'm not sure why.

High season in a well known vacation spot is always expensive. But if this was your idea you should have been prepared to foot the whole bill yourself. Had they suggested it then it would have been appropriate for everyone to chip in.

If you set this up, its on you. All this for a birthday?

If it was all your idea and you invited them, you should pay for it.  BUT if some of them sincerely offer to pay their share and you know they can afford it, by all means, take them up on it. Happy Birthday!

If this is for your birthday, you should not pay any of it.  The others should divide the bill amongst themselves and treat you.  That being said, do you really want to spend your birthday in Galveston????  There are so many cleaner and clearer beaches within a few hours.  If you are going for the food and nightlife, I'd suggest Austin, San Antonio, or New Orleans over Galveston.
