Have you ever been in a big earthquake (magnitude 6.0 or greater)?

I experienced two in 2019. I went to California on the 4th of July to visit a friend in a small desert town, and a 6.4 earthquake hit the area. The next day, I ate at a restaurant in the same area, and a 7.1 earthquake hit.

Ha!  My Jurassic Park story........always a killer!

So, there I was, in Guam in 1993, with the US Navy.....and all anyone was talking about was how AWESOME this movie  "Jurassic Park" was.

So, I had the afternoon off, and lo and behold......just so happen to pass a theater that was playing Jurassic Park.   Cool!

So I got a ticket and my refreshments and sat down was prepared to be blown away.......because they HYPE was out of this world, at that time.

Well, the movie is going along.....mehhhhh........and then the Big T-Rex comes out  and my seat starts vibrating,  and I am thinking...........OH WOW!!!!! COOL!!!!! like an I-Max theater or Disney ride, with vibrating seats and all that.......and the roar was deafening, and I am thinking........OH WOW!!!!!  That's some AMAZING surround  sound!!!!!!!!!

No wonder people are raving about this movie!!!!! This is really COOL!

I mean, I was truly IMPRESSED with the whole immersive experience and all that.........

and just then, the movie cuts out, and the lights come up, and I am sitting there,  munching on my popcorn............thinking they are just changing reels or something.........and muttering about how long it was taking.......

and I turn around, and the theater is *EMPTY*-

I was the only idiot still sitting there.   and I was like........WTF?

where did everyone go?   Hello????  are we gonna start that second reel or what?

and after like 10 minutes....it was clear the movie wasn't  restarting.....so I went out to the lobby.......and there was no one.

    and then I look outside......and there's all this damage.....and people running about.........and I'm like.............damn, it's only a MOVIE people.......the dinosaur isn't REALLY gonna eat you...........

and of course, it turned out,  I had just sat thru  the 7.8 earthquake that hit Guam in 1993!!!!!!!!!!

They apparently were NOT vibrating seats......the whole damn building was virbrating and shaking, and I guess all the locals ran for their lives.......

while I sat there calmly munching on my popcorn!

I never did get to see the second half of the movie until years later.

But man.........I really thought the "special effects" were Awesome!!!!!!!!!!

so I quickly released there had been an earthquake, and hightailed it back to the ship, and wow............yeah, there was damage all over  along the way back.

I was in a 6.9, no pun intended, as a kid.

Thankfully little structure or inside damage, friends weren't so lucky.
