State Motor Vehicle Departments usually require that a title be present whether you're selling, donating or salvaging a vehicle. Without the title, you usually can't transfer ownership. If you misplace or lose an original title, your only alternative solution in most states is a duplicate title.

You need the original title. If you have a copy, go to your local BMV or title Bureau and get a new one.

if the title is in your name and the motor registry says its your , than you can , if the title is in another name then your a thief ..simple as that ..

Sure - but only to someone who is stupid enough to buy it without getting an actual title.

They do have a process on how to get a title. Ask by visiting the cop shop...or DMV (whichever is closer to you) They both know. You have to go through the steps THEY tell you and in 3 weeks or a month you get a copy(provided "everything falls into place without a hitch" All legal. For relatively few dollars. NOW & only NOW do you own the car...(if someone else does not own it.) one of them glitches I was talking about ( that slows up things.) Once you have the title in your name "it is actually your car" . You can sell your car.
Autoparts recyclers do not like to take vehicles that don't have paperwork to them. As the person in possession of the vehicle, is the one blamed for stealing it. A few years ago you gave your money to someone and got a car. Nothing LEGAL about it. You were driving HOT WHEELS.

You cannot sell it legally but you can always find someone so stupid that they will buy it. Then next week they will be here on YA saying they bought a car without a title and asking how to get title. A copy of a title means nothing and is worthless.

No. You cannot sell it with a copy of the title. You MUST have the original merchantable title in YOUR name before you can legally sell it.

You need to apply for a lost title duplicate title. A copy is not Official.
