As shown in the figure, a circuit consists of an emf source with V = 20.0 V and six resistors.Physics will give fave ans.?

As shown in the figure, a circuit consists of an emf source with V = 20.0 V and six resistors. Resistors R1 = 5.00 Ω and R2 = 10.00 Ω are connected in series. Resistors R3 = 5.00 Ω and R4 = 5.00 Ω are connected in parallel and are in series with R1 and R2. Resistors R5 = 2.00 Ω and R6 = 2.00 Ω are connected in parallel and are also in series with R1 and R2.

What is the potential drop across each resistor?

How much current flows through each resistor?

    R34 = R3//R4 = 5*5/(5+5) = 25/10 = 2.5 ohm

    R56 = R5//R6 = 2*2/(2+2) = 4/4 = 1.0 ohm

    Req = R1+R2+R34+R56 = 5+10+2.5+1.0 = 18.5 ohm

    I = V/Req =  40/37 A

    V1 = R1*I = 5*40/37 = 200/37 of V

    V2 = R2*I = 10*40/37 = 400/37 of V

    V34 = R34*I =  2.5*40/37 = 100/37 of V

    V56 = R56*I = 1.0*40/37 = 40/37 of V

    ΣV = V1+V2+V34+V56 = 740/37 = 20 V ....it works

    Equivalent resistance of R3||R4 is 2.50 ohms.

    Equivalent resistance of R5||R6 is 1.00 ohms.

    Equivalent resistance of the whole circuit is

    5 + 10 + 2.5 + 1 = 18.5 ohms.

    Current in R1 and R2 is (20V/18.5ohm) = 1.08 A.

    Current in each of the other resistors is half of that, 540 mA.
