What can a ekg, ct scan of heart and echocardiogram determine?

I went to the hospital about four months ago due to me having almost passed out at work. They did blood work and found my troponin level was very slightly elevated which is cause for concern no matter what and which at the time before any other tests, the dr who did the test, indicated it could of been signs of early heart failure. Which that dr told me. So my Cardiologist came to the hospital and did more tests. Ct scan of my heart, echocardiogram, and many ekgs throughout the night. (Stayed overnight) Which all of them came back perfectly  fine. The blood troponin level went back to normal as well. So my question is can these tests determine heart failure? Or enlarged heart? What else can they determine? Specifically the ekg. What can that mainly determine. I do have pvcs I take medicine For. But my biggest fear at the moment recently is heaving heart failure or I had dreamed of having a heart attack that seemed so real in my sleep. But I didn’t wake up sweeting or sore.i do drink a lot. I have good blood pressure. I still take my meds for my pvcs but something just feels off. Could be anxiety? could of that just been a dream? Or a real heart attack in my sleep? How fast can heart failure develop? Thank you for reading my long question. Last time I saw my cardiologist was a couple days before Christmas. And normal check up is a ekg and blood pressure and that was all fine.

  • On edit:  generally when ever you are admitted onto a heart floor, they put a 5 lead on you right then & there & basically they are continually monitoring a 5 lead ECG.  As far as how long it takes fore heart failure to develop, it is an ongoing process, gradual, usually related to uncontrolled hypertension causing the heart to work harder to over come resistance.  So the echo & CT would look at an enlarged heart, & the echo would be what they would use to determine ejection fraction & heart failure.

The echo  is kind of like an ultrasound of the heart.  But what the echo will help determine is your heart's ejection fraction, which is what they use to diagnose or rule out heart failure.  Somewhere in the neighborhood between 50 to 75% (or there abouts) is what they would like to see & lower would mean the left ventricle is getting weak & inefficient & nor ejecting enough blood causing a backup into your left atrium & pulmonary circulatory system & being the definition of left sided heart failure.I've never nursed in an ED or a CCU, but I assume that the multiple ECGs were to monitor for abnormal arrythmias that would indicate the history of an infarction.

Did you ever hear the expression "I am as serious as a heart attack"?  well, heart attacks lead to cardiac arrests, & without immediate intervention & a lot of luck, that is basically the end of the line.

Ask your doctor to draw blood for your BNP level if not done yet.  If it’s more than 450 then its more than likely due to heart failure.

There is nothing wrong with your heart. I had a rise of troponin it was caused by severe indigestion which caused the coronary arteries to go into spasm. cleared up in 24 hours, still here 20 years later.

    you are over thinking.
