My favorite breed is the dachshund. I've always had an affinity for them.

I don't care for dogs no more than for a rat. I don't touch them, don't think they are cute, don't kiss them in the mouth or care to have one in my house. Mankind should have left them in the Wild.

Cane Corso for me.
I've never had a dog before I got FLUFFY (his real name). He's a neutered Male Cane Corso and weighs in at about 115-120 pounds.
Despite being professionally trained as a personal guard animal he's a regular pussycat. Male guests at my B&B are aghast that I named him Fluffy.
With the exception of guests at my place I live alone in a very remote mountainous area. This dog provides me with extra security from errant city folk dropping in to steal stuff and from wandering bull elk and the odd bear.
And we have an understanding that he's not allowed to sleep in my bed. So he waits until he thinks I'm asleep before sneaking up onto the bed at night. And when I wake in the morning he very quietly slides off the bed. And then we both act like he spent the night on the floor - LOL !!

I have had several Doberman dogs. Used to "babysit" friends Dobies also. Very sweet dogs but are short lived. Then I had a German Sheppard. By far the smartest, the best dog I have had to have as a partner. Very attached to only their owner. And was AMAZING in the forest and in public. Protective, but mostly only bullying because she could. The little girls next door used to come knock on my door and ask if Nikki could come out and play. That dog would NOT let anyone in my backyard when the kids were there, she did not attack anyone but only run them to the property line and stop. I also taught her to track the Girls. We began with a game of "Hide and Seek" with her toys in the house, then with the kids. That dog was absolutely amazing. Moved to Florida, one day I had taken her to our favorite park. (woods and trails) One day a group with search dogs were there so I did not allow my dog to run. When they took a break I asked if my dog could try. What was a 20 minute track for their professional dogs, my Nikki accomplished perfectly in only 2 minutes. Over 20 years she has been gone, I can honestly get tears in my eyes thinking of her to this day.
Such a smart dog, such a good dog, it is such a shame she is gone. Literally would outsmart people often, and had the intelligence equal to about a 5 year old kid. She always carried a basketball every where she went.
Her ashes will be buried with me ... my friend into oblivion.

I don't like dogs, they bark, jump on humans and need to be walked.

"WALKER" passed away 2 years ago and I miss that dog with all my heart.
I'm 70 years old this year and I've always had dogs (4 of them) starting from when I was an infant. But I have not replaced "WALKER"; I just cannot.
