Nursing student afraid of using needles? ?
So I’m starting nursing school in the fall and I’m so excited and eager but i have to admit I’m afraid of using needles (more so IVs or drawing blood I don’t think shots would bother me). I’ve personally been to the hospital a lot and needles don’t freak me out when other people are using them on me. It never bothers me when they mess up I honestly barely even feel it. However I’m so nervous about messing up on other people. Is this something that should deter me from becoming a nurse or is it something I’m likely to get over and not worry about?

Yes you can be a nurse even if you are afraid of blood and I'm going to tell you how and show you

You will have to get over it, and with training you should not be messing up. Whether this breaks you, only you can over come it.

Many people hate needles. I learned how to do it and i’ve done hundreds. I work primarily with kids, peds is my speciality

Nurses draw blood too. I had a reaction to something at the school of dentistry where my face was swollen up they said. They brought in another dr to give me something by iv. He had no idea what he was doing but figured it out.
Also, pharmacists give me flu shots every year. But nurses can at drs offices too.

You're correct to differentiate between IM and IV. They are two completely different balls of wax.
It's up to you to decide if your fear will deter you or not.
