An RF amplifier has an S/N ratio of 10 at the input and an S/N ratio of 8 at the output. Noise factor and Noise figure are?

    Noise factor is the ratio of input SNR to Output SNR.  The SNRs must be in power ratio form (not dB), which these look to be.  So:

    Noise factor is 10/8 = 1.25

    Noise figure is simply Noise Factor in dB form. 

    NF = 10log(noise factor) = 10log(1.25) = 0.97 dB.
