Religion involves man trying to reach God or a better afterlife by doing good works. Religion cannot save you; only JESUS saves.
The Bible teaches that we are all sinners who deserve eternal separation from God in hell. But the good news is that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for all our sins and rose again (1 Cor. 15:3-4). Because of the shed blood of Christ, no one has to go to hell. All one must do to receive eternal life is to believe in Jesus Christ for that free gift! The moment you believe in Christ alone to save you (apart from works), you are kept eternally secure and will go to heaven when you die no matter what.
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24).

"so that they would seek God, if they might grope for him and really find him, although, in fact, he is not far off from each one of us. For by him we have life and move and exist, even as some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his children.’ " Acts 17:27,28

Catholics get to personally receive the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ, on a daily basis, along with all the associated graces. It's not possible to do any better than that, this side of Heaven. You should try it.

IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!
The first person to produce a single tiny little piece of verifiable evidence for any god will become world famous and mega rich!
Academia states that in the absence of any sort of evidence of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable evidence is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence.

I cannot help you with religion ...but I can help you with Christianity and truth...after all isn't that what we seek...
Religion is filled with man made rituals and rules to make themselves "feel" righteous. God's Word states that righteousness is made unto us by what Jesus Christ accomplished....
Learning the truth of Christianity and the power you have as a child of God is a phenomenal journey and walk.

I don't believe you. You obviously don't follow the fourth commandment, otherwise you wouldn't be on yahoo answers on the Sabbath. Thank you, just a girl, for acknowledging the 4th commandment, and I hope you do.

ADDED TO ANSWER YOUR FOLLOW UP QUESTION: You are not supposed to follow the 4th commandment. That is law. That is exactly what I was talking about. Romans 14:5 and Colossians 2:16 makes it clear to not be under the sabbath. So stop with the law. Go to grace. Back to my original message: You do still sin. Everyone does. And you aren't supposed to be doing "commandments" if by that you mean law. The believer is supposed to be under grace. That is why you don't feel close. Here is what you need to believe: The Lord Jesus Christ is God, and He loves you. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ means being forgiven all sins past and future, and means going to heaven and not hell. Death leads to immediate heaven or hell, and it is too late to be saved, after death. All believers still sin. See 1 John 1:8. To be in heaven and not hell, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is God and who died on the cross and shed His blood to pay for all of our sins in full, and who was buried, and who resurrected from the dead. The only way to avoid hell is by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, without adding any of your own works. See Romans 4:5, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, and John 3:16.

Have you neglected this:
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.
Also Corporate worship is often best to experience God, especially for those just learning to be in the presence of God.
There are a number of books from different traditions that lay out how to experience God. Maybe seeking out one of them will help.
Praying involves more than talking but also listening, which involves calming ones self down, and learning to be obedient to what the Spirit of God is communicating.
