Why does this generation of American have to suffer a greedy, neocon boomer generation just because their hippie movement was doomed to fail?

as someone that grew up listening to the boomer generation endlessly congratulate themselves for "changing the world" and making it so much more tolerant, liberal and educated for their children... I have to admit reading stuff like this tickles me quite a bit...
