How isn’t it sexist to treat someone based on their Sex/gender?

Sexism according to my dictionary is discrimination against people especially women on the basis of sex so according to this definition  treating someone like a woman or treating someone like a man  is sexist since it’s not treating people equally.

When does it cross the line from being helpful and being hurtful is the issue!

If I am working with another man and something is beyond his weight limit, I often "lend a hand". So if I help a female co-worker for the same reason- then it is being helpful and not sexist. But the female could take it as being sexist.

So often it is not the intention but how it is seen by a second or even third party.

We are all humans and need to help each other. It is not sexist to realize each sex/gender does have limitations. Equal but not interchangeable. To view some one as less then because of a limitation is wrong. The reason for feeling they are less then or even more then is a form of bigotry. It can be race, gender or even educational level. It is still a form of contempt before investigation.

Fun fact: The term sexist was coined in 1965 by the feminist Pauline M. Leet. The question we should be asking is why are we being putting so much worth in a ideological term coined to help push the feminist narrative.

In reality the terms sexism and sexist are feminist terms that were not only coined by second wave feminists in the 1960's but were and still are terms used to push the feminist ideology on the people through manipulative and dishonest means.

In fact, all the isms and all but one phobias use by the left were coined for no other purpose than to manipulate the people and make all other alternatives look evil in comparison.

People should spend some time looking up the origins of terms like racism, sexism, sexist, homophobia and transphobia and ask themselves why are we letting the left use these terms to manipulate the narrative and create a dishonest view of opposing positions. Call liberals and feminists out when they call you a sexist by pointing out the origin and purpose of the term. Then demand an argument based on merit, not on ideological terms designed to give them a means to win without making a valid argument.
