the senate broke the law by holding an impeachment hearing without a judge do they realize this ?
THE LAW REQUIRES THAT CHIEF JUSTICE PRESIDES OVER ALL IMPEACHMENTS
it wasn't republicans who broke the law it was democrats
well since he was Illegally impeached anyway cause they didn't hold hearings in the house AS REQUIRED BY LAW
since he was Impeached*(asterisk because the impeachment was NOT legal) as president the same rules apply if he's tried after he leaves which you can't try someone who is no longer in office as congress has no power after you leave
the law also says that only those still in office can be tried by the senate
and that no trial can be conducted by someone with bias against the accused

Once again, your understanding is incorrect. Where did you read that the Chief Justice needed to "preside" over the impeachment of an EX-President?

No they didn't. When the senate got the articles from the house, Trump was no longer potus. The constitution requires the chief justice to preside over the impeachment of the president, not the former president. Roberts was not out of line when he refused to sit thru it again.

No. They didn't.
If a majority of the members of the United States House of Representatives vote to impeach, the impeachment is referred to the United States Senate for trial. A conviction requires a two-thirds vote in the Senate. The individual may or may not then stand trial in a criminal court as well, before a jury of his peers.
