You could talk about Rousseau and his idea that humans are a blank slate when they are born, and society is what corrupts them

Yes they are. Most people have good values that they learned from their parents as they grew up. I'm 61 and I've learned that people are basically good. Many people have tough, cold exteriors but inside they're caring and considerate.

Some are, some are not. Really, I would have expected you to know that without having to ask. You need examples of why? Why WHAT? Please give us the essay question you've been assigned, because I can't really figure out what you're asking us.
