Paul never met Jesus, knew very little about him, and made up his own religion based entirely around the resurrection. There are a ton of contradictions between what Jesus is quoted as saying in the gospels and what Paul writes in his letters.

God loved the world He created, and all its people. But mankind corrupted it, and that's the part that Paul teaches us to turn away from.

We are to not love the things that bring God displeasure. When Paul used the term “world” he was referring to the attitudes of the people who chose to alienate themselves from the laws or commandments of God.

God loves mankind, he created us, and though we inherited imperfection, sin and death from Adam, out lovin Heavenly Father made a provision for us as brought out in John 3:16

May we all appreciate that gift of the ransom and have the prospect of living forever.

    Romans 5:19

God so loved the world - God loved His creation and the people He created.

Hate this world - Paul is telling you this earth is not your home, but Heaven is your home.

"We are ‘IN’ the world, but not ‘THEREOF’ -- the 'world' implies all sorts of evils with strong non-Christian cultural worldviews. Therefore, “Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” [1 John 2:15]; [John 15:19].

“For God so loved the world. . .” [John 3:16] -- Here 'the world’ is the great ocean of perishing sinners. If we read a little further, we come to [John 3:36] where it says, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

When we reach out to the world, our goal is not to join, but to help them make a connection with God.

Let’s recap: the 'world' is therefore already under condemnation because of sin and unbelief, and to perish means to remain there forever (under the wrath of God), or the 'world' (the sinners) can heed the last text I just mentioned.

There need be no confusion.  God loves all of his human children.  Paul teaches us to hate the sin and debauchery of the fallen world.  There is no conflict.

  • There is no confusion.....that does not exist between your ears.

We are to hate the world system and the world's sinful ways. Not the people.

No confusion at all. Jesus was simply telling us that God loves us. Paul was warning us not to place our faith in the world, but only in God.

There's no confusion.  When God so loved the world - He was speaking about PEOPLE.  God loved us when we were still His enemies, wicked, evil.

Jesus told us "If the world hates you, it hated Me before it hated you and the world hated Me without a cause"

We are supposed to hate the world's systems, the deceitfulness of riches, the sexual immorality that goes on, the pornography, the sexual slavery of girls and women.

Don't you understand what an evil place the world is?  And can't you understand that God is love so He always loves people and wants them to come out of their sins and be waved?  It's not God's will that anyone perish but that ALL should come to repentance and be waved.  It's entirely different.

That's in John 3:16 with verses 14 & 15 explaining that it is people in the world who turn in faith to Himself who will not perish, but have eternal life. Those are the ones encompassed by one of several Greek words for 'world'. God so loved THAT world of humanity that He sent His Son to live on the planet (a different Greek word for that.)

Paul says "that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ (2 Cor. 5:19) such is His love. But he also speaks of God, who "made the world and all things therein" has "appointed a day where he will judge the world in righteousness" by Jesus Christ. Acts 17:24 & 31 - love is shown first, but those who refuse to respond to such love will be judged. God is not a door-mat.

The apostle John tells Christians to hate what the godless world of humanity is, does, and stands for as we cannot be friends of God if we love a godless world of humanity (1 John 2:15). This is basic stuff for Christians. Not confusing at all.

There’s no confusion. Paul is referring to the negative systems and attitudes the people of this planet hold in high regard.

When the Bible says “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son...” so simple and profound a child can understand. He is not talking about the filth here; but about the people he made and loves.
