Anyone else notice that the Yahoo Answers Leaderboard is a little sketchy... the points don't add up?

Yes.  I've been on here for 10 or 12 years and have wasted WAY too much time answering far too many questions, and I'm only up to 126,534 points.  The people who have one or two million points either must live here every waking moment and answering every single question, or there is some other process is in effect to give people points.  The #1 slot, AuntKatie, has over 1.7 million points and an alleged 74% favorite answer ratio, and yet I can't recall ever seeing an answer by that person anywhere on any question.  And her (I'm assuming her) Q&A history is kept private so nobody can go see what that person has supposedly answered.  The PearlL person I see answer questions all the time, but they are short little half sentences that don't really give any sort of useful insight or advice to the question.  That person has nearly 270K answers, which at 2 points an answer would be 540K points, and 11% favorite answers adds 10 points per favorite answer, which would be about another 29K points, far short of the 1.4 million points PearlL has accumulated.

So yeah, I agree, things don't add up.

The Leaderboards haven't been consistently updated in years. I don't pay any attention to them. MANY of the users on the LBs aren't even on the site anymore.

The overall, MAIN leaderboards have been frozen in place for YEARS.

They still say I have 522,000 pts, or some such number.   That number is  YEARS old.  I am actually closing in on about 800,000 these days.

It also still lists many users that have long since been suspended and should no longer even be on the list at all.

and anyone paying attention knows that Conley passed Aunt Katie ages ago....and is now the sole user with over 2 Million Points.

The CATEGORY leaderboards,   (top 10 )   *were* being updated,  until last October or so. .....give or take.

Many of those SEEMED frozen, with not much movement taking place... but that's simply because no new people were cracking that top ten....as most are top heavy with point gamers,  with ridiculous BA ratios,  and people who amassed ridiculous numbers of BA's   back in the days of SELF voting.

But they were still being updated, and I personally, finally made the Politics leaderboard,   right before they froze them all.

I literally got in, right under the wire.  Now, they are all frozen and no longer working.

@ Sky,  you forget there were DOUBLE point Decembers for some years,  and some users  maxx'ed that bonus out.

I can assure you, I have a full life, and reached my point total fair and square.

Just because someone has more points than you,  doesn't mean they spent every waking minute here.  Some people develop friendships and cultivate contacts,  who are very generous with their BA's.  The benefit of having "fans" here.

Others, of course, cheat  ...and achieve the same results by using sock puppets and awarding themselves countless BA's with their other sock puppets.

You can't paint everyone with the same brush stroke.

Most of the leader boards have not updated in over two years. They are not sketchy, they are dead and abandoned.
