What are ways to say "unknowingly breaking a habit"?
For example, someone's doing a self-project in breaking a certain habit, but which there's no end goal. How would you title such a project?

Sounds like a Head Fake. So if you want them to stop doing X by doing Y, then title it something with Y about how you want to study if a certain trait affects how well they do with Y, but really you are seeing if it stops X without letting them know.
