Should the Bible and all other religious texts be removed as swear-in props in our courts?  Should they be replaced with The Constitution?

It wouldn't make a difference.  Honest people would remain honest, and liars would remain liars.

There is no requirement to be sworn in on the Bible.

People who swear an oath on the Bible are swearing on a book of lies.

"Religious texts" aren't the sole method for guaranteeing substantive testimony in a court session. Affirmation is also acceptable. The Constitution has no relevance to assure truthful testimony so how would that work? Duh.

People haven't had to swear on bibles in courts in decades. Where have you been?

The original concept was that a Christian wouldn't dare swear to tell the truth on the Bible without risking hell.

No one feels that they are taking such a risk by swearing on the Constitution.

All such props should be removed -- because they're nothing but props.  I'm not even sure how many places still use Bibles to swear in witnesses.  I know that you are NOT required to swear on the Bible -- so, if a Bible CAN be used, it might make someone who chooses to swear on it look suspicious.

    They're useless.

Nah. The important thing is people know it is serious. The goal of separating church and state is less important than making sure innocent people don't go to jail.
