Framers of the constitution ?
assume that the framers of the constitution had decided to establish a unitary form of government instead of a federal system. What would have been the advantages or disadvantages of such a change? Would we have a Civil War? What would have happened to the individual freedoms? Would public services be better or worse?

It would have been unworkable. The country would have swung from having virtually no national government to total central government. Not even the Federalists wanted this. Besides, issues like slavery were baked into the socio-economics of the South. They would not and could not give it up without destroying the economic life-blood of the South.
