Fox News says Matt Gaetz dated an underaged girl. CNN says Matt Gaetz raped a 17yr old girl. Who's correct?

For you idiots, age of consent does not allow adults to have sex with minors. Unless the states law specifically states that in matters of sexual consent, the age of consent considers all citizens of that age and above to be “adults”, then statutory rape applies to anyone above the age of 18 (or 21 in some states) having sex with anyone below the age of 18.

If by "dating", Fox is referring to having sex, then Fox is once again, wrong, and, once again, doing their viewers a disservice.   Statutory rape is still rape in the eyes of the law. 

Real rape is violence with they use of something to penetrate the victim with.

Mere sex is not violent, usually.

CNN is socialist and reporting facts not in evidence.

17 years old is NOT a 'girl'.

A 'girl' is, in most states, under 16 (age of consent for an ADULT).

There are also 'Romeo and Juliette' sex laws which do not consider underage sex as rape.

I believe Matt until I see 100% PROOF it was rape.

Her word and the false testimony of others is not proof.

Proof would be a video (like Hunter Biden video), DNA sample found inside the female, or him admitting to it.

Age of consent never existed a century ago for the most part.

Both. If the age of consent in the state is 18, then it was statutory rape, no matter how willing she was. That's why we have laws to protect children against adults who want to exploit them.
