Should a guy elect to be awake or put under for a vasectomy?
My anesthesiologist says it’s my choice, but the description of being awake sounds uncomfortably reminiscent of the the Spanish Inquisition.

If you use a local anesthetic you'll be fine. Full anesthesia is expensive and comes with far more risks. A vasectomy just isn't that big of a deal. If you've ever gotten a tattoo you've been in more pain than you'll experience with a vasectomy.

I was awake and it was totally painless. A little sore for a couple of days but nothing that interfered with life. A little local and off the table in a few minutes. Recovery after being knocked out takes way too long. Take a local, be on your way in almost no time.

If we could turn back time, I would've told my Husband, to not go through with it! He was awake for it, brave man!

There is no "should". It's your personal choice. Just so you know, however, there's no pain during the procedure if you're under a local OR a general anesthetic.

I’ve never heard of men having anything but a local anaesthetic. Apparently t he discomfort isn’t so much during the procedure as just afterwards. I’m sure you’d be fine with a local.

Removing function from your body by having unnecessary surgery is dumb regardless, so whatever.
And having a doctor cut into your ball sack is crazy nutballs insanity and going to be unpleasant if you're awake, but having done to you when you're out cold is even more insane. lol

I was awake for mine. It was damn near painless, and over in about five minutes.
I was unaware sedation was even a thing for that procedure.
