I'm a legal assistant with over 10 years experience. I'm interested in one of a few higher pay grade paralegal opportunities with the federal government. Problem is these higher paying positions require legal writing experience which I do not have. I also have no prospect of getting it at my current position. Are there any courses online or at a proper college that can give this kind of instruction (I'm near Manhattan)? It would have to be part time and I definitely do NOT want to pursue a paralegal degree. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to get a physical for life insurance. I used to smoke occasionally but haven't for 2 years. Unfortunately, I have told my doc in the past about my smoking. In addition to the physical (which I'll pass), the insurer wants my doctors name and number. Is my doctor obligated to tell them that I admitted to being a smoker?

How much will me employer know about the type of therapy? Could going to mental health therapy affect my attempts to get life insurance or future job prospects?

My friend is opening a gourmet deli specializing in lunch items. He said that I could sell my specialty cakes there if I split the proceeds from the cake sales with him 50/50. Is this generally how these arrangements go? Is he asking a reasonable/fair amount?

He has offered to allow me to sell some of my baked goods there (he will sell more hot items). He has repeatedly said that we'll split all the proceeds 50/50. I've never done this before, so I'm wondering if this arrangement is typical.

I have a back-up external hard drive with a few private pictures of my honeymoon (nothing too bad, but private). I let a friend stay at our place while we were away and she had a few friends over (we said that it was OK). Now I noticed the hard drive was noticeably out of place. Any way to tell if the pics were viewed, copied or emailed while we were away?

I've worked as a Legal Assistant (similar to paralegal) for 9 years. It's my "day job" to support acting aspirations that have never paid the bills. Trouble is the work is really getting old and I hate working for attorneys. Any advice on transitioning careers/job without starting at the very bottom? I know this is a vague question so any advice will be appreciated.

My wife and I would like to visit Greek islands in either Spring or next Fall. Anyone know of ideas for package trips that will save us some money? We are open to either a cruise or just a multiple island trip (maybe Mykonos and Santorini) that could also include a stop in Turkey.

I'm in the NYC metro area, but I wonder if it's worth the trouble of going somewhere else (Calif.) to get a better price. Any advice on how to find a good doc?
