why did ac pump lock up?
2005 Chevy Malibu. Replaced AC Pump with new one because old pump clutch failed. Added 5 fluid oz oil to new pump, installed. Evacuated for 1 hr. Then started engine ac on and added 134a slowly. Pump kicked on as I added about 18oz. System began to cool nicely. After about 45 seconds the AC Pump locked up and the belt squealed. Low side went 70 PSI and high went somewhat low. System calles for 1.4 lbs. I evacuated about 8 oz of 134A but pump still is locked up. Any ideas what went wrong. The system was working just fine before the original clutch failed.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoCursive Writing No Longer Taught?
I recently learned that my city school district no longer teaches cursive writing. I was very surprised at the dumbing down of education. After a bit of investigation I learned that this is not uncommon in America. Is this omission meant to help the students pass with less requirements? What type of signature does a student use. Is it an 'X' with a witness or just printed? That is assuming that the student knows the alphabet. I learned 'typing' or rather keyboarding and cursive in the late 60's. What I'm reading is students are not capable of learning both in 4 years. Yikes! Welcome to Hope and Change.
2 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education1 decade agoWhy don't people who want Govt. Health care help those who don't?
OK, as it stands, the US does not have a public health care system at the moment. We are told that many millions do not have coverage. We are told that we must Care. We are told that by people who want Govt. health care. Why don't those who think all people should have health care adopt just one person and pay for it Right Now. If each 'believer' in public care would take care and pay for just one person then the problem would be solved. Maybe there is a neighbor that could use your help. I've asked public health care supporters if they will help a less fortunate person Right Now and they tell me NO it is not their problem.
6 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoLicense Revoked Driver Question. Comments Please?
My daughter 21, lets her BF 32 drive her car. His drivers license was REVOKED due to several DWI's She frequently lets him drive her car. Sometimes he drives the car with their newborn child inside. QUESTION: If he is ever 'pulled over' by the police, is there a chance that he will be arrested and also WHAT would happen the the baby that is in the car. I discussed this with my daughter and she said that there would be 'no problem at all' to worry about. I just am not easy about this. Your comments appreciated.
7 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 decade agoEquifax indicates a 877 Credit Score How is this Possible?
I recently inquired of my credit score using a 3 bureau estimate using Equifax service and the result was 877. I researched credit scores online and 850 is supposed to be the max. for FICO. How is that possible. Now I’ve had credit for some 35 years and have never been late on any payment ever. But still how could it be over 850? Anyone know how that works? Thanks.

If things keep going as usual...is it possible that Obama would try and get Congress to eliminate July 4th Independance Day in order to not offend other countries. Seems sad to think that could happen. Goodby USA.
11 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoWhat is the carbon impact of a cigarette?
Recent environmental concerns have brought to the attention 'carbon footprint'. Vehicles, Man, Jets, Fires, etc. all have a carbon 'footprint' and need an offset. My concern is the footprint impact of a cigarette. If I do the math what figure would I come up with for just the USA? How many trees would I need to plant to sustain a 1 to 1 ration for 10 cigaretts a day? This question is about the cigarette only. Not the manufacturing, shipping, lighting, and disposal of...

2 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoWhy is Global Warming so cold. I'm freezing!!!?
Seriously. I've heard a lot about global warming and the giant ozone hole...(no ozone lately)... and I'm just wondering what the reason is for me freezing. I was thinking it would get 'hotter' but it snowed on Saturday April 19th and that is nearly unheard of. Seems like it is the beginning of the ice age as I was being warned of back in the late 60's. I was told that the USA would be an ICE Berg by 2050. What gives? Any scientists on here?
13 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoHELP Remote Desktop Question?
I am stumpted: I have test question as follows:
5. You just installed a new Windows 2003 Server in your collocation in Denver, Colorado. You get home from the trip and find 5 messages in your voicemail from the Finance clients in Salem, Oregon indicating they cannot access the server using Remote Desktop Connection. You tested the connection from outside before leaving and it worked fine. What are the possible solutions to the issue? I was thinking that a port must be blocked in the Salem Router. Any help would be appreciated.

I've carefully listened to the radio news for the last 2 days. Whenever Gov. Spitzer is mentioned, and that is hundreds of times, I do not hear the reference DEMOCRAT Govorner Spitzer. Why is the new in general leaving out that important party tag as if it were a bad thing?

4 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoMy cat purrs 24/7. Will this wear out his motor?
My cat 'Snuggles', I got him when he was about 12 weeks old, will not stop purring. He purrs real loud too as you can hear him at quite a distance. This may sound silly but will this wear out his purring mechanism? He seems always to be happy. Also when he stops to meow, (Extremely rare) his meow sounds like a little bird chirp. I feel bad because you would expect a more hearty 'MEOW'. People make fun of him and laugh at him. Snuggles is about 15 lbs now and is like a giant kitten. He has never grown up mentally. Any ideas on his purring are appreciated.
15 AnswersCats1 decade agoTalking while Driving as dangerous as Smoking while driving?
I am looking for opinions on this. Is it more dangerous to smoke while driving or talk on a cell phone? Why don't states outlaw and enforce smoking while driving? Shouldn't handsfree smoking be at least required. Think of it..to smoke...one must dig around for the cigs, find the lighter, light the cigarette, then smoke it. The smoke impares vision,..then the smoker if they are thoughtful and considerate must toss the butt out the window into the path of other drivers. What do you think?
10 AnswersSafety1 decade agoJaywalking is it culturally driven?
These observations have been made over the course of several years. I do a lot of city driving. It came to my attention several years ago the certain ethnic groups tend to jay walk. While stopped near controlled intersections it is obviously typical for certain ethnic groups to avoid, at almost any cost (Death, injury, etc), to use a signaled crosswalk. It seems that the desired alternative to a safe crossing is to walk a few cars back and then run jig jagging between the stopped or moving vehicles. This usually happens immediately after a bus has dropped a load off at the crosswalk. To be fair, I have also noticed a high majority of certain other ethnic groups use the controlled crosswalk. That is, they call for the walk light by using the push button on a pole then wait patiently for the approval signal. Just wondering if this is a cultural thing or just dumb. Maybe it is a power thing. I believe this to be learned behavior as I saw a mother towing a young 3 year old child through a course of slowly moving vehicles. The crosswalk was only a few yards away. Anyone witness this in their city?

Does anyone think Michael Nifong the DA in the Duke case should go to prison along with many others he helped send there. I think It would be a good little experience for him as he probably lied many times to get a 'conviction'.
