I'm 36, happily married and regularly bored at work, the bossman doesn't care what I do as long as I'm at the desk when he's not. I have a 15 year old stepdaughter, a wonderful husband and too many cats. I'm originally from California but now find myself in rural Virginia and am loving every minute of it.

  • What would be your ideal picnic feast?

I'm planning a picnic for my husband whom I haven't seen in almost 3 months. I consider myself semi-gourmet friendly and am not afraid of a cooking challenge. I would love to know what you'd like to see in a picnic! I'm looking for new ideas and challenges.

Every dish would need to be cold.

    Thanks in advance!

  • What should a HS student to if violence breaks out at school?

We live in a podunk little town where the HS population may hit 350 in a good year. These past couple of weeks, 2 big fights have broken out at school, after the first fight, 6 students were formally charged. Today 4 boys ganged up on 1 and the student was left unconcious after a pretty bad beating that took place right out front where the kids were waiting to board their buses. There is an old stupid rivalry between the 2 TINY towns that feed this school that is starting to resemble gang actions. The school has a "no cell phone" policy in place that up until now I have agreed with. Tonight I told my stepdaughter to take her phone and have it with her at all times so long as it's off. What should I tell her to do if weapons are brought out? Should I tell her to get the hell out and call me from a safe place? Should I tell her to hide? This is ridiculous, this is a tiny *** country town but what it shows me is that it's not just large cities that experience this (like where I grew up), it's everywhere. I've tried to google this topic to get some info but apparently I don't have the right phrase and am not getting anwhere.

I would greatly appreciate any well thought out and informed suggestions. If you don't have anything worthwile to contribute no offense but please move on, this is not a point question, this is my Sdaughter's life.

    Thanks,

    A Concerned Parent

  • Please tell me the name of this wolf movie!?

I remember watching this back in the mid 80's. A man moves into the Alaskan wilderness to study wolves. In this movie, the man is inundated by mice and ends up eating them as well as watching the wolves marking their territory and he attempts to do the same thing.

  • What is the best way to ship live lobster?

My husband is in Maine and I am in Virginia. He's found a great price on some hard shell lobsters but I can't seem to find any detailed information on the best way to pack and ship them. I have read that you don't want to use dry ice, you don't want to use regular ice. What kind of cooler? etc etc etc

    Thanks in advance!!

My Grandmother just sent me a narwhal tusk walking cane that has been in my family for years. I am trying to find a way to value it (US standards) for insurance purposes. With the US laws on importing ivory, I'm not sure what I can and can't do.

  • When is the best time to use a pesticide on my fruit trees?

We have a "postage stamp" orchard that includes peaches, plums, apples, apricots and pears. The trees tried to fruit last year but the fruit just fell off after a couple of days of growth. After opening the fallen fruit we found worms. My trees currently have blossoms on them and I don't want to spray yet, when is the best time?

  • The plumbing in my house has recently started sounding like there is air in the pipes. What would cause this?

We don't use a city water system, we have a well for our water supply and this has just started happening in the past week or so. The water is "chuffing" although it's not coming out in spurts, it's still a steady stream. It just sounds like there is air in the pipes. Should I be worried?
