I'm 22 years old and have one son he's 7 1/2 months old. I also have a cat.

  • Any tips for an owner of a Cockatiel?

About a month and a half ago my IL's were are their trailer when a cockatiel landed on the ground beside them. A friend held out his hand and it came and landed on his hand. My IL's went and bought everything for the bird, and tried to find it's owners but could not. So we brought the cockatiel home last night.

I've had different birds before but never a cockatiel. I am currently using google to find out information about what types of foods it is safe to give him (ex. raw carrots, bananas, other fruits and veggies), and how to train him.

Does anyone here have any good tips?

  • Is this normal for 1st period after having a baby? TMI?

After I had my c-section I didn't get much bleeding, it was mostly pinkish discharge starting the day after he was born for about 2 weeks then it stopped!

Now my son is 6 weeks old, and it came full-force. I've had it for a week now but light, and yesterday it got worse. Overnight, again it got worse to gushing dark red with ALOT of clots of various sizes (biggest about the size of a loonie) .

On top of that on Monday I got a sore throat, fever, and alot of pain. I was feeling better but the chills and headache keep coming back.

I can't get into a doctor and I know its suppose to be bad but I guess its the amount of clots worrying me. I have a 4 year old but this didn't happen when I had him.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Is it normal? (TMI about loosing mucus)?

I'm 33.5 weeks pregnant and for the past week i've been losing ALOT of mucus, sometimes its clear, but then about 2-3 times a day I will start gushing with a creamy white mucus.

My son is 4 years old but I cannot remember this with him and he was born at 36 weeks due to my placenta seperating so I didn't have all the typical signs of labour.

I have a doctors appointment on Friday morning, and I can't get in any sooner. Is this something that is normal (I have NO signs of a yeast infection!)

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Problems litter training a kitten, any ideas?

I have a 12 week old kitten that I got a month ago. Since the day I brought her home she has been urinating in the bath tub. I've tried a few different things including moving her kitty litter box.

She will do #2 in the kitty litter box but she won't pee unless it's in the bathtub, but however for the first time yesterday I've noticed she did poo in the bath tub as well.

Anyone have any ideas or tips that could help me?

  • What breast pump would you recommend?

I am pregnant with my 2nd Child and my 1st (4 year old) I didn't breast feed, this time i've decided to give it a try and after talking to a few people I know, I decided to pump as well. The problem is the breast pump, everyone that someone has recommended is almost $200 and up and i'm kind of on a budget right now.

    What would you recommend:

    Single or Double?

    Electric or Manual?

i've looked at a few but have been told not to get them because no one I know has used them:

Medela Mini Electric - $69.00 at Walmart

The First Years mipump - $90.00 at Walmart

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Need advise on bullying, please help! (5 months pregnant and stressed)?

Yesterday my 4 year old son was outside and got beaten up by 2-3 kids ages 9-11 by a plastic baseball bat, and had water poured all over him. I grabbed my son and brought him inside where the kids followed to our backyard and when I seen them I told them to leave and if they touch my son again I'd call the police. When I said that I got alot of attitude and yelled at called a "B****" and a "W****" and told I need to shut my mouth.

My husband then came home and confronted them to see what happened and got nothing but attitude and he told the kids that if they were to ever touch him again we would call the police. They told my husband to go ahead call the police there is nothing they can do, and threatened that their mom would come after us and harm our family!!

I tried to talk to their parents (parent) and found out from neighbours she's never home they are at home with their teenage sister (one of the ones threatening DH) and I won't get anywhere anyways because other people have had the same problem and she tells them she doesn't care or goes after the parent complaining.

I now have a son with a huge bump in the middle of his forehead and he's afraid to go outside and go to school because the kids might be there.

Anyone have any advise about bullying, i'm finding it hard to explain to my son that Mommy and Daddy can't go after the kids for hurting them, and he asks why we can't do anything!!

  • Hot water tank/Flue Vent overheating?

Sorry I don't know much about hot water tanks and was just wonder....

I have 3 in my basement, 1 of them is for my house, 2 are for the 2 level apartments next door. The flue vent (or so I've gotten what it's called online) coming from one of the hot water tanks is extremely hot, it was making a cracking noise and I touched it and burned my finger. I touched the other 2 but their both cold.

Is this normal for it to be so hot or should I get my landlord to look at it?

  • Announcing Pregnancy....opinions needed?

I am 4 months pregnant and due early Feb. I have only told immediate family and a few of our friends so far. I haven't announced it to anyone, or haven't said anything on Facebook.

September 19th, I have a babyshower with family and friends, all of whom are on my facebook. None of them know yet that we are expecting, and I have a noticable belly and won't see any of them until the babyshower around when I am 5 months pregnant.

Should I say something on facebook since all 50-70 people are on my facebook and it's not possible to call them all, or should I leave it.

It's a babyshower for my cousin and his girlfriend (they don't even know i' m pregnant), I just don't want to get there and people "notice" my i'm expecting then.

    Any opinions?

  • Help!! Need opinions for Constipation!?

I posted here last week to ask ideas to help with constipation and I have tried just about everything:

For about 5-6 days now I have been having really bad cramping pain, to the point it hurts to sit, or wear pants. I can't seem to have a bowel movement or even pass gas. I have tried everything after using google to find information and trying things my doctor recommended awhile ago but it seems to have gotten worse.

I increased my fibre intake, tried apples/apple juice (advise of a nurse), cut things from my diet that can constipate you, been taking milk of magnesia, activia yogurt, plenty of fluids, warm water, and it even came to the point Saturday night that I had to go buy suppositories.

After the suppository Saturday Night, it helped a bit, but i'm the same again today. I called my doctor and they can't get me in until my prenatal next week.

Is it safe to use another suppository? and should I stop taking my Materna PNV? I forgot it last night and the night before but should I stop taking it all together until I can get in to see my doctor?

    Thank you for your help.

  • When will you start setting things up for baby?

This LO will be sharing a room with my husband and I. My SIL called yesterday and her husband said that if I wanted their daughters crib/dresser/change table I have to come get it Saturday or it will be going to the curb for garbage. I have no storage (a basement but it leaks we're in the process of getting it fixed), where as they have a basement and garage that are both empty.

I don't have a problem with picking it up now but i'm 4 months pregnant and would have to change everything in my room now to fit it, and then set it up.

Personally I think it's a bit too early, what are your opinions? Should I find somewhere to store it or just go ahead and set it up now!!

  • We're having trouble deciding on a name for our baby!?

We can't seem to come to a agreement on any babynames. We have 1 son who is 4 and his name is Ethan

The names we have picked out so far are:

Boys (Middle name will be: Bobbi Charles) Bobbi is my first name, and Charles is my moms brother, and my Mother in Law's Brother.

    Finley

    Lincoln

Bently (if it's Bently we'll change the middle name to Robert Charles - Robert was my grandfathers name)

    Tucker

Girls: (Middle name will be Lorna Susan) Lorna is mine and my moms middle name, and Susan is my mother in laws name:

    Lila

    Peyton

    Faith

    Delia

That's the only 4 names for each Boy and Girl that we could come to an agreement on.

  • How do I prepare my 4 year old son for a new baby sibling?

I am expecting in Feb. and our 4 year old son starts school full time in September. He's not use to being around babies.

I know he's only 4 but I want to help him understand, a friend of ours has a 4 year and they just had a baby boy, so his friend got a baby brother, and he said he'd like a baby brother too. I tried to explain it might be a girl and he said we'd give her away because he doesn't like girls.

Then when we were at Walmart my mother in law picked up a doll, and it was crying and he said it was driving him crazy and our baby better not cry. She gave him the doll and told him to take care of his baby brother, he asked us how the babys head comes off.

Another time he told us, the baby better be bringing his own toys, and own stuff because he's not sharing. He thinks he`s taking the baby to McDonalds when the baby comes, and when were grocery shopping he gets snacks and he wants to buy the baby snacks too or he can`t wait for the baby to come to play hockey etc. We`ve tried explaining it to him, but he gets confused `But if I can do it, so can the baby, because I was a baby remember``

Any tips on helping him get use to a baby, or should we just wait until the time comes (thats what a few friends told us to do)

  • What would you do? Would you question this?

I've been babysitting my neices for 2 weeks now, and have noticed that both of them have blisters on the bottom of their feet and their hands, but I brushed it off because their mom said she knew about it.

Now 2 weeks later, when she was here yesterday she said the blisters on the bottom of their feet are from allergic reactions they had 3-4 weeks ago, both sisters had a allergic reaction to Cornmeal. So of course that got me thinking because my son is the same age as her oldest and he's had allergic reactions before but I thought it was weird that they only got it on the bottom of their feet and on their hands and its was just blisters.

I spoke to a friend of mine who is a daycare teacher and she said that it sounds more like hand/foot and mouth, so i remembered the time my son had it!! I know my SIL didn't see a doctor with them, so should I question her and ask her to get it checked, my son was really sick when he had it, and I babysit a 1 year old as well, plus i'm 4 months pregnant.

I just don't want to cause a problem if I don't need to because my SIL gets really offensive about that kind of stuff. What would you do?

  • Laws in Ontario, Canada for Child Support?

My friend just found out that her ex owes a few thousand dollars in back child support because he hasn't been paying it for over a year. They have a court order saying that he is to pay "xxx" amount monthly, and he gets visitation of their child every 2nd weekend.

FRO contacted her recently and told her that the company information for where he is working to have Child Support deducted from his check was a fake and he's not employed there. So she contacted him and asked him for the info but he's refusing to give it to her.

What rights does she have to get the information she needs? or can she hold the visitation their child for the weekend that he's suppose to have him?

She called the local police station and officer working said he didn't see what the big deal was and she would eventually get her money and told her if she refused him visitation Child Protective Services can get involved and both parents could loose their child.

  • What's a fun way of letting my FB Friends/Family know we're expecting?

Both mine and my Husbands FB Friends are either friends or family, we can't call them all because they live in different provinces so we decided why not just tell them all over FB. Our immediate families know, now it's just for everyone else.

I almost let it slip this morning because it's our anniversary so I typed as my status "Wishing my Amazing Husband a Happy Anniversary. Your a fantastic husband and father to our Children" I wonder how long it would've taken people to notice the "Children" part, but I deleted it before posting.

Anyone have any fun ideas? We thought about waiting 2 weeks for when we go on our Family Trip and then post pictures of the 3 of us and people would notice my belly. (But the news is spreading fast and it's only a matter of time before someone writes something on FB).

  • I mixed Vinegar and water to clean and it smelled like rotten eggs, why?

I was going to do my dusting and instead of using my usual cleaning product, PineSol I decided to use Vinegar water instead, and about 5 minutes into dusting it smelled like rotten eggs and I got a headache from the smell.

I had windows open but I have a 4 year old in the house and i'm 3 months pregnant so i'm hoping it's ok.

  • Should I get the Diclectin or not?

The doctor I seen today (a doctor filling in for mine) is concerned because i've lost 4 lbs in the past 3 weeks, and she asked me if i've been sick, I told her I was a bit in the beginning but since last week it has gotten worse and i've been throwing up 2-5 times a day, and always nauseous. So she immediately told me she's prescribing me Diclectin.

With DS I had m/s for the first 4 months, but my doctor wouldn't give me diclectin, and this time he wouldn't give it to me at my 10 week prenatal because he felt I didn't need it.

It's $150.00 for 90 pills enough for 1 month, and she gave me refills for 3 more months, it's pretty pricey because I don't have insurance. I also read online and in a 2nd Trimester post that it's normal sometimes to loose a few pounds, but the doctor is concerned because I am in my 2nd trimester and should be gaining not loosing.

Should I just wait to see my doctor in another month and see how it goes, or get the pills? I can deal with the m/s it's not that big of a deal, but should I really be concerned about the weight loss?

  • 13 weeks & 5 days pregnant, question about baby's heartbeat?

I am 13 weeks and 5 days pregnant with baby number 2, and I was wondering about the heartbeat. At my 6 week US the babys heartbeat was 130bpm, then 10 week checkup with a doppler it was 174bpm, 10 week US it was 174bpm (emerg US), at 12 IPS Ultrasound it had dropped to 164bpm, now at my 2nd prenatal check up with a doppler it has dropped again to 154bpm.

Is this normal to be so high and then keep dropping? Has anyone else had this happen? With my son it always stayed around 145 BPM.
