What is the meaning of this symbol?

I saw this symbol during a shamanic healing session (not something I often say) and have been struggling to find its meaning on the internet. Indeed, I can't find the symbol or anything that's similar at all, although I'm sure I've seen it before. The picture is a crude representation, so suggestions of visually similar symbols are welcome. The closest I've found is the Russian letter 'l' or the inverted symbol for Jupiter, but other interpretations welcome.

  • What heating and hot water schedule should we use?

We are 6 students living in rented accommodation in Manchester. We recently got a whopper of a gas bill through and are looking for ways to cut that down. What sort of hot water and heating schedules do people use/would they recommend? Any other substantial tips for cutting gas consumption, bearing in mind we can't change insulation and stuff like that... Thanks for any help.

  • Outlook 2003 - Mail wont send, just stays in Outbox with date marked "none"?

I have come across a strange problem in Outlook where if I send a brand new email (i.e. not a reply or forward) then the email often gets stuck in the Outbox and isnt sent. The oddness is compounded by the fact that these email are not assigned a date, so in the Outbox are grouped under "Date:none" and, perhaps strangest of all, the problem only crops up when clicking on "New" when the Outbox pane is open. For clarification, if I am looking at my Inbox when I click New, the email will send fine.

Obviously this is a minor annoyance but if anyone has a solution I´d be very grateful. Thanks.

  • Looking for a particular type of rose...?

I saw a bunch or roses in a hotel the other day which I really liked. The flowers were a pale pink but had unusual green flecks on the petals (meant to be there, not greenfly!). Anyone got any bright ideas what they might be?

  • If I already have a specialist appointment, can I get a referral?

I already have an appointment with a psychiatrist booked privately. Is it possible to now get a referral from my GP if he/she thinks I need the treatment? I just found out I can claim health benefits from my workplace, hence the unconventional progression.

  • Difficulty playing files on Samsung TV through USB port?

I have a Samsung TV, model LE40B650, with both DLNA and USB inputs for playing media on the tv. I have, however, encountered a strange hiccough in that certain .mkv files aren't recognised if they're on USB. What's even weirder is that the same file will play quite happily through the DLNA system. Anyone have any bright ideas?

  • What can I do to stop back pain during sit ups?

I've recently started doing sit ups again after a long time of, well, laziness. However, I find that when I get to around 50 (though it can be 20, can be 70) I get really bad lower back pain and have to stop.

I am pretty sure this is a matter of technique and I was wondering how I should alter my sit ups and also whether a sit up trainer thing could help.

    Thanks!

  • How can I develop one particular abdominal muscle?

Whenever I do sit ups, my top left abdominal muscle develops faster than my top right one, so they're asymmetric. I think this is because of a long running problem where I have one leg shorter than the other so, when I walk, the stress on my abs in unequally distributed.

My question is, what exercises can I do to focus on the right abs? Would a twist crunch work? If so, which way should I be twisting to exercise my right abs?

  • Are there any estates with fold-down seats in the boot?

I'm looking for a new car to replace my current Volvo V70. Basically it's got to be an estate with fold-down seats in the boot... For some reason, new models with that seating option are thin on the ground. Found a Mercedes but wasn't keen on the drive, does anyone know of any other options?

  • How do you get files in the TV Shows section of iTunes?

I ripped some Family Guy episodes from a DVD, converted them into iPod format for my iPod touch and then dragged them into my iTunes library. Thing is, they went straight into 'Movies' and I can't get them to move into 'TV Shows'. I'm a little OCD when it comes to iTunes so if anyone knows how to move the files into TV Shows, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

  • When did the law on homosexuality change in California?

What was the date that it became legal to be a "practising" (as they used to say) homosexual in California?

  • Is there only one courts system in America?

In England there are two sets of courts, civil and criminal. The Magistrate's and Crown Courts hear all the criminal stuff and completely different courts (i.e. County and High) hear the civil disputes. Having read some of the answers here about cases in America, it appears the US uses the same courts for civil/criminal cases. Is that true or have the contributors I have read got it wrong?

  • Is there a program that tells you exactly what your computer is doing?

Basically, something that tells you each and every step your computer is taking when, for example, you open a program. Something that tells you which registry keys its using, which processes start up, etc. Essentially a complete real time chronology of every event on your computer...

  • Anyone know about Tom Ford ties in James Bond QOS?

The ties Bond wears in Quantum of Solace are pretty darn nice and, having done a little research, it appears that they were specially made for the film by Tom Ford. Does anyone know if these ties will be going into mass production any time soon and, if so, when?

    Thanks

  • The Problem of Evil - Focusing on AIDS?

I'm sure you know it. If God is omnipotent, omniscient and supremely benevolent, then why do we have AIDS?

I pick AIDS because free will does not apply and the worst affected area is Africa, where the Missionaries have done their business oh so well and the vast majority of AIDS sufferers are...wait for it...Christians.

God knows about AIDS, God has the power to get rid of AIDS, God is the kindest person (allegedly) in the world... Why would he let SO MANY of his followers die like this?

None of that "working in mysterious ways" cop out thank you very much.

  • What is the name of this cookbook?

It has got a hot pink cover with a picture of a woman (the author/chef) on the front. It's called something along the lines of Mad About Food or Crazy for Food, I think... Saw it a while ago and really want to find it again. Can anyone help? Links to somewhere I can buy it would be appreciated...

    Thank you!
