  • Adding rice to formula...?

I have a 11 week old baby who sleeps 6 hours a night and normally eats 6 oz of formula at a time.

the last few days she has drained every drop from her bottle and starts crying for more. and drinks the better part of another 6oz. would anyone reccomend adding a teeny bit of cereal to the formula? he dr says not to feed her more than 6 oz at a time, but she is clearly hungry! its not to keep her sleeping, like i said she goes from midnight to 6 am straight. and im not worried about obesity or gearing my kids to eat too much, my oldest started getting rice around 3 months and she is 17 months now and skinny just like her daddy.

does anyone have any recommendations on cereal?

  • can anyone tell me......?

    here's the situation:

My last period started March 8th. its usually a 28 day cycle. its about 46 days late. i've been under major stress this last week, since my store has been gearing up for our semi annual pride ride, and we've been doing a ton of cleaning.

i've taken 6 pregnancy tests since last week, when i realized it had been 30 some-odd days since my last period. they have all been negative. today i started bleeding while i was at work (if you cant tell i spend a lot of time there) and about 5 minutes later it stopped.

i went and got another pregnancy test and took it 15 mins ago. yet another negative but the little bit of time i did bleed it was brownish.

i've also been moody as hell, and eating chicken like its nobodys buisness. but i've got too many pregnant people around me right now, i think that is more sympathy cravings than anything else.

and im not a complete putz, its just this situation is throwing me for a loop, if im pregnant it should have shown up by now, but if not they WHY THE HECK did my period start and stop so quickly??!

  • excrusiating pain in the left ab near hip bone?

im asking in behalf of my husband. he woke up yesterday morning out of a dead sleep in excrusiating pain. he was doubled over and even opted to go straight to the hospital (which is saying something. he's a big baby when it comes to the hospital. its like pulling teeth to get him to go)

he said the pain is in his left ab area right above his hip bone. the EMS workers tried to say that it was just a bruise, and the doctor tried to pass it off as a strain caused by sex. which if that was the case he would have been there 2 weeks ago instead.

the PA could even feel the inflames spot and they did CT scans on it which they said had NOTHING. that nothign was wrong with him. what ever. They had to shoot him up with Morphine because the pain was so bad.

but nothing is wrong. im calling bullshit on this right now.

can anyone give me any sources or sites of what this could be? because its been over 36 hours and the pain is still just as bad. and im worried its his appendix and if they don't do anything.....

  • need info on DSS involvement in the home?

i have a pretty clean home. the only problems that we have with our home is that we have a slight bug problem, thanx to my inlaws who have them visiting and bringing them along. we've been fighting it and we've almost got in under control now, and i have a elderly cat who occasionally misses the litterbox.

this being said, i need to know what level of involvment DSS would take if called on us. its always lingering in the back of my mind that someone in my husbands family would get pissed off with us and try to cause problems like this, since they LOVE to call DSS as a way to get back at people, and now its being thrown around that my Mother in law might do it to us.

and the thing is she lives with us. she lost her home and couldnt stand living with her daughter because there are so many people living there so she came to stay here for a week. a week turned into a permenent thing. My husband and i have a 2 month old baby and she has been helping out around here as kind of a way to contribute to the house hold. but she's been doing things that we don't like. she has fed our child water to "try to clean the milk off her tongue" which actually turned out to be Thrush, and refuses to lay her on her back to sleep.

and if we say anything, we're yelling and getting snappy at her. she's also pissed because we told her no collect calls on the phone from her boyfriend and brother who are both incarcerated, and i cut her trips to see her boyfriend in local lockup to once a week instead of everyday. She told my granfather, who lives across the street, that if we're gonna show our ***, she can too and will call DSS on us.

My daughter has clean clothes, a crib, 2 bassinets, plenty of formula in both concentrate and powder form, and she is clean. i know DSS's biggest thing is food and a place to sleep. what else do they look for, can anyone give me advise or sites?

i know getting her out of here is priority number 1

  • what happens when your child......?

    ......outgrows the carseat?

My daughter is 2 months old, and is 23 inches long and 12 ibs. she's approaching the height limit of her carrier, and she's WAY to young for any other kind of seat, she can't even hold her head up that well yet.

what happens when she hits 25 inches?

  • too early for teething?

my daughter is 7 weeks old. she's been colicky, and she fusses a lot. we switched formula and it was helping a lot. the last couple days we've noticed her drooling and trying to suck on her hands. She's also wanting to suck on fingers rather than her passy. now i never thought anything of this until i was talking to a friend who's grandson (who was born a week before my daughter) is doing the same thing, and he said that he is teething already.

now is that normal? my mother-in-law says its impossible, but i don't know. has anyone else had any experiences? When did your kids start cutting teeth?

  • Question about SSDI qualifications?

my husband was born blind. he's been getting a check from the goverment since he was born.

he's been called a liability everywhere he has looked for work, and has been unable to find work anywhere except through a goverment agency who specialize in diabled workers.

I was looking up Disability on ssa.gov and it said if you became disabled before 21 you have to have 6 credits to earn SSDI. well My husband being blind since birth has never had a chance to earn the required credits.

Since this is the case, would he still qualify? or no?

  • umbilical stump question?

my little girl will be 3 weeks tommorow. Last night her umbilical cord started to come off. it came off completely overnight and im worried that it might be infected. its not red, or smelling, or swollen, but there is some discharge, and when she cries, it pops out a little and you can see a small area thats the color of the cord at birth.

has anyone seen anything like this before?

  • baby not wanting to breastfeed?

i had my baby Sept 27th via c-section. since it was so late at night when i had her, and i was so doped out, i didn't see my daughter till later the next morning. they had already fed her a couple times with the bottle, and when i tried to get her to take to breast she wouldn't. she would get desperate and cry and i would break down and give her the bottle. we even talked to the lactation specialist and she got her to take the nipple for a few seconds before she dislatched and refused to take it again. i've tried since and between her refusal and the engorgement, i can't get her anywhere the nipple.

i have a pump now, and im worried, i read the instructions, and i've only been able to pump a solitary drop. im worried that the milks trying to dry already. and i have no basis to know, since i didn't lactate before she got here, and i've never been successful at getting her to feed off me. OR express it by hand.

I WANT to be able to breastfeed my daughter, since its cheaper and so much better for her, but am i even going to be able to??

  • here's a fun condundrum: Could Vampire's use a tanning bed?

i know its a STUPID question, but i was thinking about it today after seeing the guy who played Eric on True Blood in a Lady Ga-Ga video.

Could a Vampire use an everyday tanning bed to tan themselves, and not go up in a pile of ash???

The argument would be of course, that there is something Magical about the Sun itself to burn a vampire since the moon reflects the light from the sun, and Vampires can freely move about anytime of the Lunar Phase without worry.

You would think that since the lighting would be artificial, it would have the same effect as the refracted light off the moon.

Obviously it can't be the Vitamin D that you get from Absorbing light since that would mean, they wouldn't be able to bite anybody without filtering the Vit D out of thier blood first.

    any thoughts???

  • wanting to know stuff about relatives.....?

ok. this has been getting to me for some time.

im not even sure how to word this to me its really confusing.

if my 1st cousin (son of my father's bilogical brother) had a child. that would make him my second cousin. if i had a child, what would that make my child any my cousin's child? second cousins? third cousins?

and what is the deal with "once (twice, 3 times) removed" family members, how do you get those?

my family tree used to be nice and neat, and now its getting so confusing!!!

  • bleeding after cervical exam?

okay i asked this yesterday and had no replies, so i don't know if it was too drawn out or what but here goes again:

i'm currently 3 days before my due date. Saterday i went to the Hospital with extreme pains (i mean, extreme, whole torso seizing up on me extreme)

i was checked at 12 pm when i got there. they said i was 4 cm's dialated. they admitted me, and set me in a delivery room. at 7 they got me up to walk around since the machines weren't picking up contractions constantly. (it depended on how i laid)

i walked for an hour and they checked me again to see if i progressed. this time the measured me at a 1. so they had another nurse come in to check. same thing.

they told me my cervix was tilted to the left slightly and that the other nurse was feeling the baby's head a measuring that instead of the lips of the cervix.

anyways, the charge nurse told me that it would be normal for me to have some spotting up to 6 hours afterwards since they had to check back to back and the second exam irritated the cervix so badly.

my question was: Yesterday (Monday) i was still having some spotting. was that something i needed to be worried about??

also since posting the question yesterday, i've also noticed a grayish brown clump in the toilet. is that the rest of my mucus plug? or something else to be worried about?

  • spyware on comp, and now can't even boot into safe mode?

i was on here yesterday, asking about my mini acer, and i tried some of the ideas that everyone told me, the Malwarebites, the AVG, but of course, i couldn't get them to load. My hubby tried as well, and we actually got a message screen where our desktop picture used to be saying that i had spyware and it's not allowing any systems to run because of it.

well obviously i know the spyware has hijacked my computer. but this morning i realized i hadn't tried to boot it in safe mode, and was hoping i could at least get Malwarebites on through there.

But everytime i tried to load it in safe mode, it cuts itself off.

    anyone know what to do?

and please don't say "your gonna have to reset it to the factory settings" because it didn't come with a restore disk, it wanted you to make your own when you got it, and i couldn't very well make a recover disk when it has no cd-rom on it
