When will we stand up to the health care industry?
60% of all personal bankruptcies filed in this country are due to medical bills. Of those 60%, 69% had health insurance. The average hospital in this country will charge you between $3,000 and $6,000 for an MRI. A study was released showing that the cost per person to operate an MRI machine was $106.06. After the life of the machine. We are allowing the health care industry to bankrupt the country by charging whatever prices it wants because you have no choice but to pay. For profit health care is killing this country and is morally wrong.

2 AnswersBuying & Selling8 years agoIs health insurance a scam?
I work for one of the largest US employers. I was given two choices for a provider with 3 different optons. 1st option - $2,500 deductible $55.00 monthly premium - benefits only kick in once deductible is met, 2nd option $2,000 deductible $80 monthly premium - benefits only kick in once deductible is met, 3rd option 1,500 deductible $95 monthly premium - benefits only kick in once deductible is met. I see a doctor once a month for about 15 mins for percription mangement - before my insurance will kick in I must first meet my deductible - my yearly visits total $2,000 therefore my insurance covers nothing. I could lower the deductible to $1,500 but then my yearly premium would be $1,140 compared to $660 I pay now. so if I take $2,000 (office visits) + $660 for premium = 2,660. If i change my plan it would be 1,500 (office visits) + 1,140 for premium = 2,640 out of pocket , thats a savings of $20 a year - oh wow better not spend it all in one place. If i drop insurance my yearly out of pocket would be $2,000 (seeing a doctor is cheaper w/o insurance??) I know something could always happen to me that I require more then $2,500 a year but I think it's a scam to pay into something only to tell you that you must first meet some really high deductible before insurance will cover 80%. For profit healthcare is morally wrong and is only adding to the increase healthcare costs in this country. Your opinions on my situation? and yes both providers plans are the exact same down to the smallest detail - so much for competition.
9 AnswersInsurance9 years agoDoes anyone else feel this is not how our justice system should work?
So I got a ticket in the mail yesterday for running a red light at a red light camera intersection. Aside from the fact I turned right at the red light and stopped before making the turn, I now have to take a day off work to go and fight it, also in order to be heard at a hearing you have to first pay the fine if found innocent they return the money to you within 60 to 90 days. So the city of columbus is assuming i'm guilty until proven innocent. I had no idea our state was so out of money that they need to issue false tickets in hopes of you not disputing and if you do win they hang on to your money for 60 to 90 days allowing them to put that money into an interest baring account. Is this the new justice system in America?

4 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoHow can I get approved for a credit card?
I pulled my credit report over the past weekend and found I only have one account reporting and its a paid in full collection acct. for 106$, but I have never once been approved for a credit card, even when i get things in the mail saying i am pre-approved they always turn me down when i apply. I don't want to invest 300$ into a fake credit card to build credit, I don't have an extra 300$ to buy a credit card.

Did anyone expect the patriots to dominate in all three phases of the game like they have against a very good Bengals team.

My theory is that most people who believe in a personal god and don't accept evolution, do so not out of fear, but rather they cannot grasp the concept of "millions" and "billions" of years. They do not understand the timescale of evolution, and therefore struggle to understand its core principle. That evolution by means of natural selection is a very very very slow process. who don't believe in global warming? I thought this was common knowledge. But in a previous question I read the answers astonished me.
The finding that the climate has warmed in recent decades and that this warming is likely attributable to human influence has been endorsed by every national science academy that has issued a statement on climate change, including the science academies of all of the major industrialized countries.[22] With the release of the revised statement by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists in 2007[23], no remaining scientific society is known to reject the basic findings of human influence on recent climate change.[24]

12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoClearly there are limits to the uses of skepticism.?
But the issue is tricky. Imagine that you enter a big-city taxicab and the moment you get settled in, the driver begins a harangue about the supposed iniquities and inferiority's of another ethnic group. Is your best course to keep quiet, bearing in mind that silence conveys assent? Or is it your moral responsibility to argue with him, to express outrage, even to leave the cab because you know that every silent assent will encourage him next time? Likewise, if we offer too much silent assent about mysticism and superstition, even when it seems to be doing a little good, we abet a general climate in which skepticism is considered impolite, science tiresome, and rigorous thinking somehow stuffy and inappropriate. Figuring out a prudent balance takes wisdom. Your thoughts?

said about Einsteins religious views. As a man of science he never once made the claim there was a god, he merely accepted the idea of a god. These quotes would make him agnostic at best.
I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God is a childlike one, but I do not share the crusading spirit of the professional atheist whose fervor is mostly due to a painful act of liberation from the fetters of religious indoctrination received in youth. I prefer an attitude of humility corresponding to the weakness of our intellectual understanding of nature and of our own being. (Albert Einstein)
I do not believe in immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it. (Albert Einstein, The human Side)
The mystical trend of our time, which shows itself particularly in the rampant growth of the so-called Theosophy and Spiritualism, is for me no more than a symptom of weakness and confusion. Since our inner experiences consist of reproductions, and combinations of sensory impressions, the concept of a soul without a body seem to me to be empty and devoid of meaning. (Albert Einstein

I just wanted to share one of my favorite Thomas Jefferson quotes
"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear.:
What do you think of his quote?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWithout evil does the idea of good hold any meanning?
When somone talks about heaven it usually includes the absents of evil, however with the absents of evil you lose all understanding of the concept of good, so in essense heaven would lose meanning with time. How would a christin make me understand the concept of heaven?
