  • Coming up with an algorithm for this problem. Pedometer Calculator?

A dietician wants you to write a program that will calculate the number of calories a person can use by walking at a slow pace for a mile. However, she only has the distance on the pedometer, which is measured in steps and not miles. 1 mile = 2000 steps. For every mile a person uses 65 calories. Allow the program user to enter the number of steps taken throughout their day. The program will calculate the distance in miles and the number of calories used up. The user should be able to enter the day of the week the data is being calculated for. The day of the week, distance in miles and the calories should then be displayed on screen.

I have so far come up with this formula A= number of steps divided by B which = 2000 which the result should be C which is the number of miles. A/B=C then C*65. Am i correct so far on this? I don't want the whole answer because i want to figure out the pseudocode, flowchart and python code on my own so i'll actually learn but am i on the right path?

  • Can you name some intense choral pieces besides the usual O Fortuna from the Carmina Burana?

I love O Fortuna the opening to the Carmina Burana and similar choral or operatic music but i'm looking for something with the passion and intensity of Orff or Wagner. I've heard one piece used on TNT and Cartoon network in ads but have no clue what it is. Apparizione Di Afrodite is pretty good but lacks the power and intensity of the Carmina Burana.

  • Hotels refusing to take cash as payment is it widespread?

I've noticed that several of the "better" hotel chains like Amerisuites don't accept cash anymore. Now i checked with the treasury department's website and it said that businesses do NOT have to take cash if they don't want to if they did Sam's Club gas stations and Apple would be in trouble. Is this a widespread thing that anyone else has noticed or is that not the case? I haven't used cash in a long time because i think it's antiquated but curiosity made me ask. I asked a friend of mine who works at a hotel if they did and they said their hotel does to cut down on people throwing parties and to have a way to charge people for damages and stuff like smoking in a nonsmoking room.

  • Battle of the ghost shows which one do you watch?

SciFi will be broadcasting Ghost Hunters LIVE at Waverly Hills Sanatorium while Travel Channel will be broadcasting Most Haunted Live from The Winchester Mystery House. Both groups as you know use very different methods to investigate with Most Haunted using psychics and spiritualism and Ghost Hunters using science and technology. Also there is controversy involved as Ghost Hunters (TAPS) interviewed MH's Yvette Fielding after the MH Live at Eastern State Pen. and an argument broke out and Yvette questioned TAPS' skill as investiagtors to which Jason Hawes responded that he had been a paranormal investigator for 19 years. Plus TAPS investigated the Winchester House and found NO evidence it was haunted. MH is doing a live 6 hour ghost hunt there on Oct. 19th while TAPS is doing a halloween night investigation at Waverly Hills Sanatorium a place they have investigated and know to be possibly haunted.

  • What type of paper was it?

An old girlfriend of mine came looking for a job where i work and she had our front desk girl sign a piece of paper that she was looking for a job. Now she isn't unemployed now but i was wondering for what reason would someone have to get a piece of paper signed saying they were looking for work? Would it have anything to do with child support? Rehab? It struck my curiosity because i pay child support to my former wife for our kidses voluntarily and am planning to change jobs.

I just noticed at my work how much of these things we use but in a small southern town not to many people care at all about recycling. How could i get a program started so people will recycle their aerosol cans rather than just dump them in the trash. I'm just an average citizen with limited funds and no city government connections so what could i do?

  • Need name of a musical piece any one know it?

I keep hearing this choral piece. It reminds me of O Fortuna from Carmina Burana yet it's definately not that piece as i own the whole opera on cd. I've heard it used mostly to promote tv shows on Cartoon Network and once on TBS i've been looking for it for years. Anyone have an idea on what it is or can you offer hints as to what you think it may be? I mean being a choral piece i wouldn't exactly be bale to post lyrics.

  • What's the best dance club in Asheville, NC?

I mean REAL dance club not some bar that plays music and it has to be high energy dance and/or techno not some ghetto rap or r&b club full of fakes with crappy attitudes. If you can recommend a good cocktail lounge or chillout lounge that'd be sweet too.

  • Why the hate for the Electoral College?

I find that the people who hate on the electoral college understand it the least. Without the electoral college then the most populous states would be able to hijack the election. The 8 most populated states would nullify the votes of the 20 states that followed them in population count.

You don't change the rules so your guy can win you run a better candidate the next time. So why would anyone believe a popular vote to work better and would a popular vote movement gain enough steam to cause a change in the Constitution?

  • What can i do to avoid custody battle?

6 years ago my wife commited adultery and we divorced yet i cited irreconcilable differences now she's remarried (twice) and i've remarried. In our original agreement we settled for joint custody with no child support now she's wanting me to surrender custody. I'm currently out of work and cannot pay child support can i give my parents temporary custody until a time when i find work and pay the child support? She's not asking for a lot but i just recently lost my job so even not a lot is hard to come up with. If i had the income i once had i'd happily pay more than what she's asking for. This whole thing of asking for support when we agreed i would be paying for their needs when they are with me (they were on my insurance and are listed as my beneficieries on my life insurance and 401K) is a suprise to me and is there anyway i can make sure the money is being spent on my children? I don't want to have a judge ask my kids to choose a parent.

  • Will the Miss America pagenent being on a country music station affect the outcome?

If the contest has text voting then would the majority of those votes come from states with a larger number of people who watch CMT? If the finalists all come from southern or "cowboy" states then we may have reason to wonder.
