  • How (and how much) can billboard.com restrict reposting their charts?

    As we all know Billboard.com lists their own rankings of various songs. However they break their lists into 10 items/page (apparently to generate "clicks" and ad revenue), charge subscriptions, have over-crowded pages, etc, etc.

    But no independent websites (that I can find) re-publish the same billboard lists themselves, in an easily read subscription-free format. Why not?

    What is stopping a website (or even a discussion forum) from re-posting a simple sequential order of songs? Does Billboard really have a copyright on a sequence of other people's songs? What if the website doesn't advertise as taking billboard's list but posts identical ones anyway? What if they change the order of 2 songs? 10?

  • What percentage of murders in US from semi-automatic rifles?

    I have googled a bunch but not been able to find this data.

    -Specifically I would like to know about MURDERS, not homicides, since they are different things

    -Also I'd like it to be limited RIFLES, specifically semi-automatic ones

  • What is the max height a firehose can pump water?

    Asking here because it's the closest we have to a "firefighting" section...

    Anyway is pumping water to a fire 100+ stories high even possible? What's the plan for a fire like that? Seems like the pressures would be so extreme that the hoses would burst and there would be no water pressure at that height.

    And yes, basically interested because on 9/11, it seems like the fires would have consumed the buildings regardless of a sudden collapse. No one could have put them out. Or am I wrong?

  • How to switch profile pic to a previous profile pic?

    This is simple: I want to change my profile picture. There are about 10 "profile pictures" in my "profile picture album" and switching between one or another used to be easy but doesn't appear to be possible anymore.

    I tried clicking my current profile pic to be taken to the album of profile pictures. I click the one I want and it takes me to that pic's page. But despite looking everywhere around this screen there doesn't seem to be any option for "make profile picture" like there used to be.

    I also tried clicking "change picture" which takes me to the screen where you can do one of four things: 1) edit thumbnail, 2) remove profile pic, 3) upload an image from computer or 4) take a picture (with webcam I assume). There is NO OPTION for changing to a different profile picture!! (at least from what I can tell...) And no, I do not want to re-upload old photos everytime I want to change pics. It used to be so simple, why did it change?

    I also tried

  • What is your interpretation of my blood glucose numbers?

    FPG = 126

    OGTT = 86

    These were taken by glucometer during a class lab (I'm a med student) and I didn't have the nerve to ask the professor about it. The FPG was taken after about a 2-3 hour fast, I ate two cookies and took the "OGTT" about 20 minutes later (I know not exactly a well controlled study).

    But what about that fasting glucose? 126, technically, meets one of the criteria for DM. At about 120+ the incidence of retinopathy begins to skyrocket (particularly in certain ethnicities). I am a lean male in my 20s with no past history of anything. What could explain the high glucose? And is that a risk factor for DM-like complications (vascular, renal, eyes) even if it's NOT due to any DM-type insulin resistance or deficiency?
