  • A cirlce has equation (x^2)+(y^2)=20. A line has a gradient of 2 and intersects the circle at 2 points. What are...?

the possible values for the y-intercept of the line.

The answer is -10<k<10 where k is the y-intercept of the line but I'd like to understand how to arrive at this answer.

  • Express f(x)=x^2+4kx+(3+11k) in the form (x+p)^2+q where p and q are constants to be found in terms of k.?

Doing some maths revision and came across this question and just can't figure it out! If you could talk me through it, that would be much appreciated.

  • What does it mean to be too articulate?

Ok so my guidance counsellor was speaking to me about a child protection issue, about how I work too hard and stuff like that. Anyway she's always described me as articulate but the other day she said something along the lines of: if I was to describe you, I'd say you're a perfectionist to the extreme, quite introverted, very articulate- maybe a little too articulate- very intelligent and talented.

And then she babbled on some more cause she's quite the talker. Anyway I've just been trying to figure out what she meant by "too articulate". Is there a second meaning to the term that I don't know of, or am I just not interpreting it well?

  • who can i talk to about self harm who wont tell my parents?

i need help but I really don't want my parents to know I don't get along with them at all it would only be awkward, plus my dad just lost most of his sight and they really don't need the extra stress right now. Please don't leave answers telling me I have to tell my family because I either find someone who wont tell them or I wont get help at all so yeah. Im pretty sure my school counsellor would tell my parents if I went to them.

  • Do I always have to shower after a workout?

well, I work out 3 times a day and it seems excessive to shower so often. like I work out in the morning, when I get home from school and later in the evening like 7 or 8. even twice a day seems excessive to me but I don't know is it necessary?

  • why is it not acceptable for a woman to go topless like it is for a man?

like, i know the obvious answer is that boobs are sexualised, but really, by societys standards, a woman can show off as much boob as she likes so long as she covers her nipples. but thats the one bit that is the same as a mans is it not? and they dont have to cover theirs. not that i want to go around topless lol, i just think its a bit of a double standard to still be around in the 21st century to be honest.

  • how do i ask him out?

well, ive been flirting with this guy ages and he's been flirting back, but i think he's too shy to make the first move. either that or im misreading his signals, but i would like to ask him out and then if he says no at least i can stop wasting my time i guess. i would just ask him for his number to start with but his phone broke so hes waiting on a new one :S Anyway, ive never asked out a guy before, in fact ive never had a proper boyfriend really, and never been on any kind of date. Its hard to get him alone too, when i do its never for long. how do i ask him? what do i say? where's a good place to go for the first date? sooo many questions :P Im 14 by the way. People always seem to wanna know my age haahaaa.

  • would a crop top be trashy to wear at the gym or running in hot weather?

i'd never dream of wearing one in any other circumstance unless it had a full tshirt under it, but is it acceptable in these conditions or no? im 14, if that changes anything.

  • i think i might have depression?

Ok, lately ive been having these symptoms: I'm constantly tired no matter how well i sleep, im struggling to concentrate and am easily overwhelmed(whereas usually im good at doing work and focusing), sometimes i randomly wanna cry for no reason, i feel alone even when im with people i love, and ive been getting a lot of migraines. Could this be deppression? i dont wanna see my doctor about it cause my mums just been diagnosed with depression and i dont want to seem like im... copying? like looking for attention or summin i guess. i dunno, im 14 so they probably think me immature like that. it would just seem a bit "coincidental"... i know these kind of silly worries shouldnt come into play at all but still.

  • How can i temporarily "escape" without things like drugs, alcohol or self harm?

you know how when you're drunk you get this sort of escape from life and worrying? well, i dont cause ive never been drunk but i imagine its something like that lol. Anyway, lately I've been so stressed ive just had this constant urge to do something to create a similar effect. i wont to drugs or anything, but i did have to stop myself from cutting... i just need a good way to just forget for a bit, i guess. im scared i might self harm cause i dont want to, but in a way it sounds appealing... its hard to explain i guess :(

  • Should I join a junior gym?

I'm 14(girl), and i really like PE lessons when we use gym equipment, but we only do that like once or twice a year. I also wanna join just to keep fit and healthy I guess, plus I like working out, its just fun tbh :P Locally, there's a gym where 11-15 year olds can have hour long sessions. My friend says she might try it too, but I'm worried that it might be filled with younger kids and it wont be worth it. The induction is £15 which is a lot for me, most of my money, but then after that sessions are £2.50. Im also worried that cause its for juniors itll be super easy, cause at school i can run fast for long, lift pretty heavy weights ect. Should I go, or shoud I only go if my friend does too or what?
