Did Bush destroy the GOP's chances for the White House in '08 with tonight's SotU Address?
Do you think the GOP has a chance to win the White House in '08 still? Do you think Bush is purposely trying to ruin it for the GOP?
20 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIsn't it OSCENELY HYPOCRITICAL for Bush to suggest spending cuts to a Democratic Congress?
Let me translate Bush for you: "I want to spend all your money on a stupid war that's essentially a money-laundering operation for my cronies. But now that the Dems are running Congress, I don't want them to spend any money on actual, real Americans who need it."
4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoThe Psychology of the Apocalypse...?
Do you think that when someone talks about an impending Apocalypse that they're subconsciously wishing to be pushished?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat is the Soul?
In honor of James Brown I pose this important question. :)
The concept of the soul is a very western religious concept, yet there seems to be little effort to explain exactly what the soul is. Can anyone explain what the soul is? What are its properties? What does it do? What is it used for? Where does it come from? Where is its location?

20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf God Really Did Exist, Would it Make a Difference?
I'm asking 'cause (assuming God does exist) it sure as hell doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Evidence for "miracles" is slouchy at best. The world's totally hosed up. Only thing I get from God is that he's very, very, very, very, veryveryveryveryvery shy and needs money.
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo any of you Christians actually know what Humanism is?
Top points to the Xian who knows the correct answer and not some stupid, snarky one. Honestly people, do any of you know what it is you complain against so much?
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhen Eating Brie Cheese, Do You Eat the Outside as Well?
So, I'm sure you're all aware that Brie cheese has a sort of hardened outside that tastes different from the inside & has a white, chalk-like appearance. Are you supposed to eat that part as well, or peel it off?
7 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoWhat Should Our Reaction be if a Terrorist Attacks the USA with Nukes?
I think this is an important question to ponder. We know the world is full of people who hate us and they don't care about the politics of any US city. How should the USA respond if a terrorist attacks a US city with a nuclear weapon? What do you think the chances are that such an attack would happen in the next 100 years? Do you think there'll be a difference between how we would and how we should react?
17 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy is the Idea of a "Christian-based America" Being Promoted so Heavily?
Is this about Christians celebrating their heritage and demonstrating that America was based on Biblical ideas. Or is it perhaps a way to exploit historical amnesia and encourage voters to embrace not just ultra-right-wing Evangelical Christian ideas, but to embrace it as an identity indistinguishable from American?
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan Dems and Repubs agree on one thing - no more Texans for President?
Johnson & Bush... Vietnam and Vietnam II. Texas is the problem. Let's agree to keep Texans out of the White House forever. Deal?
25 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDo cockroaches give off a certain smell? Like maple syrup?
This is so gross. I don't even like talking about it but I need your help folks. I was bad and left my sink full of dirty dishes for um... let's just say it was a long time. Let's just say paper plates and cups may have been involved. Um.. anyway, now that I've cleaned up, there's this smell not unlike a toffee candle or maple syrup that greets me when I come in from outside. I'm wondering if it's the heater (which I've started to use again as it's getting cold now in So Cal), or possibly a gross cockroach infestation. Has anyone had experience with this? I know what to do (clean like mad), but is that maple syrup smell the smell of cockroaches? Bleh, please pardon me, I hope none of you were eating. Bleah.
11 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoWhy does there have to be a pedophile scandal for Dems to win?
OK, for once this is actually an honest question, just one of those snarky non-questions you find all the time in the politics section. I'm a big liberal, and while pleased with tonight's outcome, I'm concerned that it took a pedophile scandal (Mark Foley) to put Dems over the top (at least I *think* that's what happened). But what if Foley never did anything wrong? What if there were no headline-grabbing sex scandals just before the election? I'm concerned that voters just can't understand liberals and what we stand for. Maybe all the people understand are sex scandals. It's more than a little disconcerting.
24 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs the Senate race in Virgina driving you crazy too?
Jeez, what a nail-biter. The Republican is only ahead by about 27K votes - not that much. Aaaaaaahhh!
9 AnswersElections1 decade agoI have zero friends. How can I make friends?
I know. It seems like such a retarded question, but I guess I'm a social retard. I'm horribly lonely all the time. Do any of you know some good ways to make friends. I'm 37, so I don't go to school any more. Thanks for any helpful ideas.
9 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoChrist came to remove sin, so why did Paul add so many new rules?
I don't quite follow how Christ came to die for all sins, and then Paul shows up later to add more laws. What's going on here?
