In NYC, are there any public swimming pools which are open year-round?
Can anybody provide a website which lists them if they do exist? I may have occasion to head out there in March, and that's probably a bit early for the beach.
3 AnswersNew York City7 years agoWhat happens when cops don't find what they're looking for?
Let's suppose that some cops have a warrant to search a suspected crack house, but don't find any drugs. They do, however, find some evidence of an unrelated crime. Can they still make an arrest, and would this evidence be considered admissible if it wasn't in the original warrant?
3 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police7 years agoIn football, at any level, would this be allowed?
Let's suppose a team is in a 4th down and a chain-link situation. The coach wants to let his QB take the ball, but thinks some more heavy-duty blocking would be in order. Could he replace ALL of the running backs and tight ends with extra offensive or defensive linemen? Or is there a limit on the number of such substitutions that can be made? Of course, the extra men would have to report themselves as eligible ball handlers.
8 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoShould the NFL eliminate the wild cards for the playoffs?
Sure, it made sense in the 6-division days, but now that there are 8 divisions, is it really necessary to let more teams into the playoff round?
10 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoWhat kind of helicopter is this?
If you've been following the story of the ship being stuck in Antarctic ice, maybe you've seen pictures of the chopper which the Chinese have been using to recover the passengers. It appears to be about the size of a Blackhawk, with no tail rotor, but with two stacked rotors above the fuselage.

I won't do anything sensible, honest.
Smart-assed answers only, please.

1 AnswerHunting7 years agoHow could I film this movie scene?
Here's what I envision.
The main character, Arthur, lives in a house on a river. He's out mowing his lawn, and a small speedboat cruises by his house. One of the boat's occupants starts firing a machine gun at Arthur, and he hits the dirt. The boat comes close to shore, and the shooter jumps out to confirm his kill. Arthur then draws a pistol from his waistband and blasts the shooter. The boat's driver takes off before Arthur has a chance to cap him.
How could I simulate the gunfire without disturbing the neighbors around where I expect to film this?
3 AnswersMovies7 years agoLIONS FANS- What should the team go after in the NFL draft or free agency?
1. Guys who can block field goals.
2. Receivers and running backs with sticky fingers.
3. A quarterback with good color vision.
I'm open to other suggestions. Good grief, what a train wreck of a season. Once again, they've snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
2 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoWhat were some differences between US and Canadian banking laws in the Great Depression?
I once saw a claim that while thousands of US banks failed in that time, there were no bank failures in Canada. What could have contributed to that?
1 AnswerHistory7 years agoIn Detroit, is the People Mover still running?
Given recent court events, this seems like a fair question to ask. Also, where are some convenient places to park so I can take the Mover to Cobo Hall for the auto show? Finally, what;s the fare on it these days?
1 AnswerDetroit7 years agoWhat is the name of this musical work?
I just heard the Greg Lake song ''Father Christmas'' on the radio. In it, there is a passage which I know has to have been borrowed from some classical music. The first time it shows up in the song, it's played on a lightly-amplified guitar. At the end, it sounds as if there's a small orchestra and choir involved in the proceedings. It sounds almost as if it could be a Tchaikovsky piece.
2 AnswersClassical7 years agoWould you prefer a Walther PP or a Makarov pistol?
They seem so close in design and potential performance, it's eerie.
4 AnswersHunting7 years agoHow much snow can a railroad locomotive move by itself...?
...without having to hook up the big plow blade or snow thrower? I'm mainly interested in North American equipment, but trainmen in other parts of the world can answer as well.
Also, if a locomotive is on plow duty, can it also pull freight or passenger cars at the same time?
1 AnswerRail7 years agoAre there any ski resorts in California which have cross-country skiing available?
When is their typical business season? And do any of them ever set up a biathlon course? If you're wondering, the last is when people ski for a while, then stop and do some shooting, then ski some more.
2 AnswersSan Francisco7 years agoIn Detroit, is anyone familiar with Happy's Pizza?
You may recall that this is the place where Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson picked up those two pies which put him out of action for a while. I'm just wondering if they were worth the trouble of trying to save.

4 AnswersAircraft8 years agoCOPS- Have you ever heard an explanation like this?
Recently, in Traverse City, MI, a man apparently killed his girlfriend or wife. He claimed that he had been trying to shoot himself, but missed.
Has anyone ever thrown such an excuse at you for anything? Go ahead and provide some examples. This definitely makes my top-ten dumba--es of all time list.

That's the only way I can see him calling for that fake field goal attempt which went bust.

3 AnswersSan Francisco8 years agoUnder what circumstances would a city cop also be an FBI agent?
Recently in Detroit, there was a shooting incident in a barbershop on the city's east side. While attempting to escape, the gunman ran into a car which was occupied by a Detroit police officer. It turned out that this cop was somehow also an FBI agent, so the gunman is being charged with assaulting a Federal officer.
How would the cop, in essence, wind up working for two agencies at once?
