I was prompted to change my file storage location for WebMatrix to work and when I did it reopened without any of my sites that I was working on, how do I get them back?

I installed Linux on my old Mac and upon signing in to my iTunes account on both my new Linux-running Mac as well as a separate PC running Windows 10, I found my library only had the music that I'd used CDs to download or that which was purchased from the Store.

I downloaded hundreds if not thousands of other songs using YouTube-to-MP3 converters and I noticed that all of THOSE songs are the ones missing. Why is that and how can I get them back?

I've heard that a great deal of scientific research is left unpublished due to high publication costs, usually thousands of dollars. Is this true, and if so, is anything being done about it? Why on earth would they have to pay so much, especially when scientific journals also charge subscription fees to readers?
