  • Furnace blower problems.. Capacitors?

My furnace blower motor is not working when the fan switch is manually turned on or in AC mode. It will run with the furnace though. I assume that has something to do with high/low speed operation.

Since it runs with the furnace can I rule out the run capacitor? Also, I don't see a start capacitor anywhere. Are those built in the motor?

  • Does a child having an autosomal dominant trait mean a parent has to have it?

My daughter has a bicuspid aortic valve which I read online is genetic and autosomal dominant. I somewhat understand how autosomal dominant works from biology class in high school. This would mean that at least one of the parents would have to have the trait as well right?

How can bicuspid aortic valve only happen in 1% of the population if it is autosomal dominant?

  • My dog has been panting and breathing heavy for the past few hours?

My rat terrier has been panting and breathing heavy for the past few hours. She hasn't been running around all day when we let her outside. It seems like she is uncomfortable walking. It also looks like there is swelling around the kidney area on both sides. What might this be and is it safe to wait till the morning to see a vet?

  • Question for photographers who have done Santa photos?

Just got done with a full week of Santa photos 2.5 hours per day with over 400 groups being photographed. I am just curious for those of you that have done it if you allowed parents to take pictures along side of you? If so, do you charge for the sitting? Officially we were not allowing pictures since we were doing the photo for free and they got a free 4x6, but it was almost impossible to enforce! Some people still felt the need to try and sneak in a photo for themselves. We were not out to make a profit because we like doing it for our city every year, but we try to cover our costs by having people buying a few additional prints. We even had a lady that came through the line 3 separate times to try and get 3 prints. Are people this cheap everywhere or just in our area? Kinda puts a damper on the Christmas spirit.

  • Subnetting Question...?

If I am behind a NAT firewall and use a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 on my network couldn't I potentially have something like 65,025 different subnets between 1.1.0.0 and 255.255.0.0 and another 65,025 different hosts on each of those subnetworks? I don't get where the network classes come into play in the whole thing I guess. Like with the standard class C address 192.168.1.x What is keeping me from having the network 124.136.1.x? Does it have to start with 192.168 for some reason? My question is probably as confusing as subnetting is to me.

  • Solving a subnetting problem?

I was given the following problem below to figure out a IP addressing scheme.

Create an IP address scheme that will accommodate 400 devices divided into 5 segments.

can't I just use a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and have subnets 192.168.1.x through 192.168.5.x with x being any host from 1 to 254?

Everything I see about subnets talks about subnetting a range of addresses that you have been given already. What if I am not given a range? Can I just use my above example in a private network?

  • Help my understand subnetting?

I am having a really hard time grasping the subnet concepts for some reason. If I have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 I can have hosts in the same subnet from x.x.x.1 - x.x.x.254 right? Can I choose any numbers I want for the network address? I know 192.168.0.x and 192.168.1.x are popular but can I do 15.87.156.x if I want to?

The only reason you would need to use any other subnet mask other than 255.255.255.0 is if you needed more than 254 hosts in a subnet right? I just don't get why you would try to complicate things by using a mask like 255.255.224.0

  • Wiggled post in un-set cement?

I set some fence posts in cement yesterday (not quick set cement) and this morning I went out to see if they were solid yet but it wiggled. Is my post always going to have some play since I wiggled it in unset cement or will it still sill in set up solid in a day or 2?

  • Fence post next to tree?

I am running a prebuilt panel fence with posts every 6 feet and when marking out the post locations 1 post is right at the base of a tree. I am pretty sure it will be impossible to dig a post hole there. Can I cut a panel in half and attach it directly to the fence at that point to get the post away from the tree? That section of fence would then be 9 feet long without a post. Is that okay?

  • How do I set posts for a pre-built panel fence?

I have read in different places that I should not set all of my posts ahead of time since fence panels could differ slightly in length and I might be way off by the time I get to the end. Is this true? If it is true and I need to set each post as the panels go up how can I do it without having to wait for the cement to set each time I put a panel up?

  • HVAC Blower motor issues (capacitor?)?

The blower motor in my furnace has been acting up for the past year and I am hoping someone can help me diagnose it. The blower seems to start up just fine when using it for heat but when Summer comes along and I use it for A/C the motor will try to start and just hum for a while. If I switch it off and spin the blower by hand and then turn it back on it goes just fine. I have cleaned the motor and blades as well as oiled it. The fan spins without resistance. What would case it to do this in AC mode but not in heat? Could it just be the starter capacitor?

  • how do you know where to go and what to use to target different fish species?

Is it just more of a experience thing that you learn over time? For example, I just want to go fishing. I don't care what I am catching as long as I am catching something. Is there a good source online that will tell you what species are generally active this time of year and where they are? I am not talking about fishing reports for specific areas. More like what fish species are most active this time of year, what depth and lures to use, etc.... I just want to go fishing off the pier or in a channel on Lake Michigan but I have no clue what to use or where the fish might be.

  • Parking for Richmond race on Saturday?

I am looking at the parking options for Saturday's race and I am wondering how good the tram is from the Colliseum. Is there a big wait to get on the tram after the race? Does the tram have to deal with race traffic or do they have a blocked off route?

  • Questions about setting up payroll?

I currently own a business that does not need payroll. However, we are expanding and will need to start doing payroll. I have a Federal tax ID which is the same as an EIN right? Do I still need to fill out a SS-4 IRS form for a new EIN?

After that is taken care of can I just get a program like Qucikbooks payroll and be done with it or are there other licenses and steps that need to be taken?

  • Separate business insurance policy for assumed name (dba)?

I own a LLC that provides photography services. Recently my wife decided to open a retail store selling baby items. We are keeping it under the same entity as our LLC by filing for a assumed name under the LLC. When talking to our insurance company they said that we need a separate insurance policy even though it is the same entity. Is this true or does she not know what she is talking about?
