How do I safely go swimming with crutches?
I broke my ankle a while back, and have been given the go ahead to use the pool for walking in. My concern is the slippery floors in the change room and pool deck. My crutches slip on the smallest amount of water.
Any suggestions on how I can get to the water without breaking something else?
2 AnswersInjuries8 years agoHow do I know what used 5th wheel hitch to buy?
I have a 2000 F150 that was previously drilled and wired for a 5th wheel hitch. The sellers must have taken the hitch with them.
I would like to pick up a used one, but have no idea how to make sure that I get the right one to line up with the pre drilled holes.
If it helps at all, it appears that the rails were installed parallel to the length of the box, as opposed to the new ones that are parallel to the width.
Thank you for any help.
2 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation8 years agoMy horse's conformation - please critique?
He's a 16.1 hand TB who is just about 4. I know he is very out of shape, and needs muscle tone, but I would be grateful if you could point out his flaws for me. Also, would he be suitable for jumping in a few years?

5 AnswersFriends1 decade agoProblem with computer DVD burner?
I've had my computer for about three years now, and I've replaced the DVD burner in it about a year ago. It worked fine for the year, and then out of the blue, it would only read disks on occasion. I went out and bought a new one, and installed it. It worked fine for about 10 minutes, and then did the same thing. I took it back, and bought an external, thinking the cables might be the problem. Well, sure enough, the external is doing the same thing.
I don't understand what the problem is. Can anyone please help me figure this out? I would be extremely grateful.
It doesn't read any CDs or DVDs, including games purchased at the store.
It recognizes the drive in the computer, and when I go into My Computer, and click on the drive, it says that it is not accessible. Also, there is a lot of memory in my computer, so that can't be the problem.
3 AnswersAdd-ons1 decade agolunging difficulties?
I'm having difficulties with an 11 year old mare under saddle, so I thought to start lunging her. However, it was a huge exercise in frustration.
I don't believe that this mare has ever been lunged before, so I took it slow with her. I started out with small circles and paid very close attention to the signals I was giving her with the whip. She is not afraid of the whip, but she does respect it.
Anyway, I could get her moving out, but never for a complete circle. She would start throwing her head around, and then immediately turn to the inside and walk into my space. I would then hold the whip in front of me to keep her out of my space, she would throw her head (and sometimes rear), then try and bolt in the other direction.
When trying to keep behind her shoulder to keep her moving, she would swing herself into me, but when trying to keep her away, she would get angry. Any suggestions?
5 AnswersHorses1 decade agoI need a mentor, please...?
I have recently began riding again, after quite a few years off to have children, and I seem to have lost my confidence in training and under saddle. I am also fairly unfamiliar with some of the newer training methods available. I have done some research on them, but I don't know if I'm doing it quite right. Also, I am restricted in the facilities available to me right now, and that makes it difficult for me. When I used to ride, I had all kinds of arenas, round pens, etc. to use.
I guess what I'm asking, is if anyone out there would be willing to mentor me to help me with the confidence, and the training issues that will come up. I know it's a lot to ask, but I would rather do this right, than mess things up. If so, I would really appreciate it.
6 AnswersHorses1 decade agoWhat's wrong with my 98 Venture?
I've had it for two winters now, and it's never put out much heat. I had it looked at by a friend who figured the thermostat was fine (probably just not a winter one).
A few months ago, the engine light started coming on. It would stay on for a few days, then go off for a few days. It would go on for a couple of weeks, then go off for a while, and so on. I checked the air filter, and it was really quite clean. I then added some injector cleaner.
On Saturday, the engine light was on again, and when I was driving in the city, the engine temperature (according to the gage) went really, really high. Then it dropped immediately to normal. It rose and dropped a second time.
After that, the engine's temperature was a bit higher than normal, and every time I idled at a red light, the temperature would go up just a bit, but would drop when driving. It was completely normal driving at highway speed. I did check the coolant level, and it was fine.
This morning I went out. The engine light was off again, and it ran fine. If anyone has any ideas of what could possibly be wrong, I would be so very grateful.

4 AnswersHomework Help1 decade agoResume help for Nursing Assistant position?
I would like to apply for a position as a nursing assistant, and I am revamping my resume but I am not sure what to put under related skills.
I have a background in administration assisting, and I am currently working for myself cleaning houses. I also work with a 62 year old blind lady on a casual basis. I drive her to appointments, take her for groceries, and take care of some of her paperwork. Basically, I am her eyes when she needs me.
Any suggestions on how I could work that into my resume would be greatly appreciated.

Also, are SOS pads safe to use on them?

5 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhich horse would you choose?
I'm looking for a jumping prospect, and have these two horses in my sights. I'm very interested in any feedback on their conformation, good and bad.
The first one is Bitsy. She was born in 2007 and is AQHA
http://s361.photobucket.com/albums/oo54/honeyrlr/?...
The second one is of Jojo. He is a 2 year old Appendix gelding.
http://s361.photobucket.com/albums/oo54/honeyrlr/?...
Jojo seems to have a very small head, and I'm not sure if that's a conformational flaw or not.
Thank you very much for your input.
25 AnswersHorses1 decade agoPlease critique this horse's conformation?
I'm interested in this Thoroughbred mare as a possible jumping prospect and I am very interested in your opinion as to her conformation. She's not standing very square in the photo, but I think with a bit more weight, she would be built quite well.
Thank you very much for your help. :)
13 AnswersHorses1 decade agoWhat do I do about my relationship with my mother?
I'm 36 years old, with two children. My parents divorced when I was 16 and ever since then, she comes and goes in my life at her whim. Her absences can be anywhere from a couple of months to years. I guess I should be used to it by now, but it still really upsets me. There's never any good reason for it either. She hasn't spoken to my brother in years, either. This time, she is angry because I did not reply to her email fast enough. How do I deal with this, and how can a mother do that to her children?
8 AnswersFamily1 decade agoEnglish Saddle differences?
What are the main differences between all purpose, close contact, and jumping saddles? I use an all purpose for general riding and jumping, but I'm thinking that I may want to invest in a new one, but I'm not sure which route to go this time. Thank you.
4 AnswersHorses1 decade agoIs it my thermostat?
I have a 1998 Chevy Venture that I bought in February. It was really cold inside the van even with the heat on full. I called to see about a new thermostat, but they want $630 to replace it (apparently it's hard to get to). However, someone told me that if I just replace the cabin air filter, it would make a big difference. Any help would be really appreciated.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHelp! I'm being sued for my vehicle - additional details?
I bought a van from a coworker on a bi-weekly payment plan. I made two payments, then quit my job. I was a few days late with the third payment because I sent him post-dated cheques in the mail. He brought them back to me unopened and demanded the vehicle back, or full payment. I told him that I could not do either. He then filed in small claims court. Meanwhile, I sent him the post-dated cheques by registered mail.
Can he do this to me because I was a few days late with a payment? Any help would be appreciated.
Also, the title is in my name, but the bill of sale states that I am to make bi-weekly payments. Did I default? Can he take the van away from me, or make me pay in full?

2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhat can I put on my cat to keep her from licking herself?
Our cat licked a sore on her leg until it got really bad. We took her to the vet and she went on antibiotics for two weeks and she had to wear a cone until it was healed. After it healed, we took the cone off and she immediately started licking the area again. Shortly she broke the skin again, so we put the cone back on. She's healed again from that, but I know that once we take the cone off, she will lick herself raw again. The vet figures this is some sort of mental condition. What can we put on the area so she won't have to wear the cone anymore? Any help would be appreciated.
5 AnswersCats1 decade ago9 year old's irrational fear of bees?
My nine year old daughter has recently become deathly afraid of bees and wasps. She was stung twice this summer. However, it is getting so bad that she will not go outside to play, and when we have to go somewhere, she runs for the car like she's going to die. I don't know what to do for her. I have tried reassuring her that bees are not out to get her, and they do have a great purpose in the world. Nothing seems to make a difference.
