Can old fractures be seen on x-rays / CT scans / MRI?
Can old fractures be seen on x-rays / CT scans / MRI? If not, then for approximately how long after a fracture occurs is it visible?
I suspect I've had recurring stress fractures in my ankles and was wondering if it could be confirmed by some scan now, or if I have to wait until it happens again.

Do you ever see/hear disability advocates make comments that make you cringe?
I mean, just like I never want to hear a judge say that rape is okay I never want to hear a disability advocate promote stigma or prejudice about disabilities or promote discrimination based on disability. While people are allowed to say what they want, I tend to hold certain people to higher standards when it comes to things like this and I expect them to at the very least not do the opposite of what their official or self-proclaimed role or goal indicates.
Do you feel the same way? Do you have any examples of disability advocates or others in the disability community making disability related comments that made you cringe?
7 AnswersPeople with Disabilities1 decade agoProfessional diagnosis vs self-diagnosis?
I have a few questions for those of you who have disabilities and I'm interested in your perspective.
1. Have your own disabilities been diagnosed by professionals (doctors, psychologists and such) or did you self-diagnose? Or did you maybe get an unprofessional diagnosis by someone, like a family member or a teacher?
2. Do you feel it's important to have disabilities professionally diagnosed? What advantages and disadvantages do you think it has?
3. Do you think differently about people whose disabilities have been diagnosed by professionals than those who have not received a professional diagnosis? Does it change how you feel about their disabilities or experiences being real or valid or qualifying for being considered disabilities? Does it change how you feel about them using disability accommodations and disability services (provided that they are not breaking any laws and are not legally required to prove their disabilities to get those)?
4. How do you feel about people talking about their disabilities or being disability advocates when they are self-diagnosed? Do you think they do more good or bad with that? Do you feel that their input and information is usually accurate and valuable or do you think it's more often inaccurate and misinformed?
I have disabilities myself and I have been asking myself those questions and I'm interested in hearing the opinions of other people with disabilities.
Thank you for your time.
13 AnswersPeople with Disabilities1 decade agoWhy is society so against those who are different?
Why is society generally so much against people who are different in some way? If somebody is not like society thinks they should be they are pushed into changing and assimilating, becoming "normal"/average (even if that means they can't be themselves) or they end up pretty much like outcasts, "freaks" that society looks down on and would rather avoid.
Why is society so obsessed with fitting us into its little boxes of pre-defined ideas of how you should be?
I think it's sad how some people must hide their real self in order to be accepted by society. If they don't put on an act and pretend to be how society wants them to be they face rejection. Why can't society embrace variety more and accept people for who they are as long as they aren't harming anyone?

I do have a biological gender, but I can neither identify with my own gender nor the opposite gender. I feel like I'm somewhere in the middle, kind of genderless or something, and I don't seem to fit into any group, I'm always the freak who is nothing like the rest. I have never met anyone who understands this. Does somebody else here feel like this, like you don't have any gender identity at all?
3 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoWould you follow your dreams or your spouse?
If you realized one day that you couldn't both be with the person you love and make the rest of your dreams come true, would you sacrifice your dreams to be with your spouse or would you leave him/her in order to fulfill your other dreams? I mean if there was really no way you could have both.
I find myself in that dilemma and I feel like whichever I choose I will never be happy. I know I have to do something about my life and it looks like I'll have to choose one of those, but neither choice feels right and I think that no matter what I choose there will always be this emptiness.
