i have a fairly new brita pitcher and just bought my first replacement filter. i took it out of the package and it looks dirty, like dirt smudged on it. i soaked it in water as instructed. is it supposed to look like this, or did i get a bad one?

its a newscast where the weather forecast image keep showing up while the news reporters are trying to talk, and they start laughing. if anyone knows what i'm talking about, please post the link i cannot find it anywhere!!!

is it possible? the outside latch is not working. took it into the shop and they said they would order a part to fix the latch but it has been 3 weeks and it still hasn't gotten in yet.

i really, really need access to the back.

Last week my car cranked but wouldn't start. This happened immediately after I had been driving it for some time. An hour or so later, the roadside assistance arrived and before they could figure out what was the problem, it started fine. Go figure.

Few days later, same problem. This time, the car never started up again. I waited some time and noticed that as I was trying to start it, the lights on the dashboard were fading. Yesterday the tow truck came and was able to start it with a battery jump. It drove fine all day.

This morning, same problem. Cranks a bit, but doesn't start up.

Is this a battery problem? Or something else? Please help-I'm clueless.

my credit score is ~700 (transunion), its lower with equifax.

had a few problems (delinquent accounts, late payments) a few years back. no issues since then. i have zero debt and pay my credit card bill in full each month.

i am a graduate student and make ~20k.

i also have no auto history - my previous car was paid for in cash (and was in my mother's name, though i paid for it).

i'm interested in leasing a 2009 nissan versa. what are the chances i could get a lease? or for that matter, a loan -- though i am really interested in leasing.

i recently moved from michigan to maryland but kept my michigan license as i wasn't sure how long i'd be staying in maryland. now it looks like i'm going to be staying here awhile, so i would like to get a maryland license, register to vote here, etc. how do i go about in doing this? i checked the maryland DMV website and couldn't find any answers .. all it says is that i must get a drivers license within 60 days of becoming a resident here .. HUH?

for the record, i don't actually have a car at this point or anything, i just want a maryland drivers license, and i want to make this address my 'permanent' address.

i have two worksheets in excel, both with a lot of rows.

for work, i need to merge these two sheets into one new worksheet. so i copied and pasted both into the new worksheet, one after the other.

the data contains a bunch of names. in the new sheet, i need to sort by last, then first name.

i sort by last name then by first name. but the result is that it only sorts by last name. if there are people with the same last name, the rows from the second sheet always turn up on top, no matter what the first name is!

this is driving me crazy. any suggestions?

i interviewed for a job 3 weeks ago. i was the only person they interviewed. i went in for another interview with the head of the project. she said she would check my references and then send me a hire letter. she really made it sound like they were going to hire me. it has now been almost two weeks and i have not heard anything from either of them. i sent the original interviewer an email last thursday asking about the job status and she has not replied. i am now really confused and just want to know what's up even if it is bad news. should i email her again? should i email the head of the project?
