My car makes a low whining noise while in neutral and the pitch goes up as I give it gas or drive. There is also a faint melted plastic smell. I had an oil change and a tune up, and I had a belt tightened about three weeks ago but this started two days ago. What's wrong and is it safe to drive?

All of the walkie talkies specifically made for kids are terrible, and I know some of the adult ones are really easy to use (my niece is more adept at my iPhone than I am). I'm looking to spend $35 or under.

When I turn on my computer, I get a message that the date and time are not set. I either have to manually go in and set the date and time or just ignore it. If I don't set the proper date and time and try to use the internet, I get all of these expired certificate notices. Eventually (after a month or so) my computer/Windows seems to fix the problem, but I want to know what is causing the problem and how to prevent it. This seems to happen every time my mom is visiting and uses my computer.

I have a 15 gallon tank that is the width of a normal 10 gallon tank but it's about 15 inches high. I have a 20 gallon filter but the filter intake doesn't extend far enough down to filter adequately. Are there any filters with a longer intake that won't have too much suction for a 15 gallon tank?

I have very very hard water at home and my hair is looking more and more blah the longer I live here. It is very dull and heavy. Without installing a water softener, is there anything I can do to make my hair shiny and less limp?

The tank is heated and filtered and lightly planted with live plants. It could use a catfish, but I tried an otocinclus and it died fairly quickly (I'm not sure if that was due to the betta or other causes).

I have a red-eye tetra that is swimming upside down and sideways and every way constantly (just starting this evening). He doesn't rest. I recently changed about 25% of the water and planted some new live plants (about 5 days ago). No new fish. The closest symptoms I can find are air bladder disease but they don't seem to totally fit. Any ideas? Should I put him out of his misery?

Tonight we canned some "dilly beans" and an hour after canning the beans look extremely shriveled. We followed the instructions exactly, so what went wrong? We were expecting crisp pickled green beans.

I have some old family photos from the 50s (no negatives) and I'd like to make some copies to have professionally framed. I know you can copy pictures at places like Walmart, but is there somewhere I can take them to get nicer copies and maybe have some of the imperfections (tears, etc.) touched up?
