  • Need to change the mirror glass in my Mercedes E200 Avantgarde?

Hi. I have purchased the glass only for the drivers side wing mirror on my car, which was a lot cheaper than buying the whole wing mirror - it has arrived this morning and now I am starting to think perhaps I should have just bought the whole thing as I haven't a clue how to remove the mirror! I know I should have thought of this before, but as I now have it I may as well attempt to fit it. Has anyone done this and how exactly did you remove the old glass to replace with the new? The old one is still in one piece, it is just tarnished as I think the snow got behind it this winter. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks :)

  • What was the bird on the net during the game last night?

I am in quite a heated debate with a friend about what the bird was on the goal net during the England match last night. I am certainly no bird expert, but he is insisting it is a pigeon - and to me it looks nothing like one - however, I can't say what it is? Looks more like a thrush than a pigeon in my humble opinion? Can anyone positively identify it? Thanks :)

  • Tick on my dog.......?

I noticed a tick this evening on my little Yorkshire Terrier dog on the chest area. I managed to remove the tick (hopefully I have got the head too) and it has left a lump on my dog. He seems perfectly fine, has had his flea and tick treatment, but I am just wondering - what symptoms should I look for to see if my dog is infected from the tick apart from the obvious swelling even more of the wound area? Is there anything I can do further to ensure my dog is ok?

As it is Saturday evening naturally the vet is not open and I will of course take my dog to the vet on Monday, I just need to know what I should be looking out for as neither of my dogs have ever had a tick before to my knowledge.

Thanks for any help yo may be able to give me.

Well, for years I have been aware of cable tidies from Ikea and thought 'nah, waste of time' - but today I bought one as I am sick of all the wires in the house. OH MY GOD, they are just BRILLIANT!!! Sorry guys, but if you have not discovered them yet, go and buy them and fit to your cables that are all over your floor!!! I cannot believe I have never used them before!

There, I feel better now! How many of you guys use them???

  • My daughter's cat pee'd and can't get rid of smell?

Can anyone help? My daughter lived at my home for a little while recently and along came her 5 year old cat with her. Once my daughter moved out I reclaimed my office (which she had as a bedroom). I laid a new carpet etc for her, but now she has gone, it smells of pee!!! Her cat is the culprit, I can assure you of that, but it is such a horrible smell (although you could not smell it when she lived here, it is only now she has gone). Anyone advise the best way to get rid of the smell with success? I can always scrap the carpet I suppose?

The cat is female, neutered and 5 years old.

    Thanks ;)

  • Alarm and immobiliser on Merc E200 2 litre...?

I have had problems with my alarm going off in my car for a while, so I locked it manually without putting on the alarm system (to prevent it going off). However, on Saturday, the car would not even open when I pressed the key fob. I bought new batteries and still nothing happened (the alarm is the one where it is housed in the drivers mirror). Today, I called RAC home start out and hoped they could help. They were really helpful and told me that sadly, with this type of alarm system, the only way is to go to the dealer and have it all done as the red light which is usually on the mirror and key fob no longer works. Trouble is, my car is in a lane at the back of the house and it cannot be towed as it is too narrow to turn a towing vehicle in the spaces provided behind the houses! Also, I am furious that just because of an alarm system, my whole car is useless, cannot be driven or even towed away - crazy alarm system!

I have to find some strong men to push it onto the road side for me, but before I do, has anyone else had this problem and been able to disconnect the alarm system (which RAC said they could not do on this model) and immobiliser?

Any serious answers much appreciated - I have to go to Surrey tomorrow and at this rate I am going to have to borrow my daughters Ford KA, which will get blown up the motorway in this weather!

    Thanks.

  • Did anyone see Gazza today on This Morning?

I watched Gazza being interviewed this morning and my heart really went out to him. He is on medication which is part of the treatment which he is undergoing to help him with alcoholism and drug addiction. It saddened me to see him as such a shadow of his former self on the football pitch. Oh, I know he has been in the tabloids and on the tv for the bad times he has been through, but this was a turn around of his life, something positive that he is doing for himself, but still I felt sadness for him as it really has destroyed the guy as we knew him.

I hope it works this time for him, his reasons seem to be much more realistic this time for staying on the wagon - I would hate to see him end up another George Best.

Good luck Gazza - anyone else watch it?

  • 102 Minutes that changed America.... anyone watching?

Is anyone else watching 102 minutes that changed America? Sometimes on here I see people having a 'pop' at each other, about where they are from, how stupid UK/USA are etc etc - and you know what? You see something like this and you realise how petty and insignificant it all is.

God Bless to all who lost their own lives, lost loved ones and who survived the horrendous tragedy that is 9/11.

  • Off cigarettes for a week now - how long..........?

I read Alan Carr's how to quit the easy way and have been off the cigarettes for exactly a week now. My determination is still at it's peak, but the cravings for cigarettes do not seem to be getting any better, in fact, it seems to be getting worse. It is not because I WANT a ciggi, quite the opposite in fact, I really feel I will never go back to them again, but I am struggling with the cravings that just won't, no matter what I do, or what I think of, go away(you are supposed to think 'Yes, I am free' when you get a craving, which I do and I really feel, but it doesn't stop my body cravings). I am just wondering how long it takes before the really bad cravings disappear? I know that perhaps I will always get 'pangs' for a ciggi (I smoked for 33 years) but it is the cravings that are taking over my thoughts that I want to stop and was kind of hoping that anyone out there who has given up could advise me on roughly how long they last. Any help much appreciated.

  • Alan Carr's Easy Way to Quit Smoking...?

I finished reading Alan Carr's easy way to quit smoking last night and have stopped today...... I have smoked for 33 years, tried everything from patches (I was almost like a walking condom the amount of patches I would wear to 'help' the craving!) to gum and even inhalators - but this book takes a totally different approach on the subject of smoking, with no scare tactics.

I know it has only been a day (which before now I have never managed without almost murdering someone) but it has been easy! I am happy, confident and already believe that this is the best thing I have ever done in my life.

Anyone else quit after reading this book? Give it a go if you want to quit, however sceptical you are ( I was) it is worth a try.

    :)
