  • How to stop people signing up for accounts using my email address?

This has been going on for a few years now and I have yet to find a solution. Periodically I get verification emails from new account signups that aren't mine, but are signed up using my email address. They are always in Indonesian language (I'm in the US and have no connection to Indonesia whatsoever).

Some of the ones I've gotten over the years are Instagram, Shopee (which I'd never even heard of previously), what appears to be a gaming site called WARKOPTOTO1.COM (I get these once every couple of weeks, seems to be a summary of games played that period), a dating website, and the most recent, Kartu Prakerja.

My email account has been secured with password changes, 2FA, etc and the login history shows I'm the only one that's ever used it. The instagram one was fixed by my contacting Instagram directly and explaining the situation; however, since I don't speak Indonesian, I'm unable to contact any of the other companies, and since the email address is mine, I'm unable to contact whoever's doing this. How do I put a stop to this once and for all?

  • Is there software to sync music between devices based on file properties?

I have a music folder on my PC, only some of which is on my ipod (running Rockbox). All of my files are ID3 tagged with artist/ title info, etc, and I also use the "Comments" field to make criteria for creating auto-playlists (like tagging specific songs for "beach" or "driving" or "sleep"). So after a while I end up with files on the ipod that have changes that their counterparts on the PC don't have, while the PC files have changes that the ipod files don't.

I use GoodSync and EaseUS for general backups of my drives and multiple devices, but their ability to filter which files to backup is limited to very basic things like include/ exclude specific file formats, or files and folders with a certain name.

My question is, does there exist a file synchronizing program (possibly music specific?) that allows for filtering files by criteria that would be found in the file properties or ID3 tags? For example, I would like to be able to create a sync job between the PC and ipod that will only synchronize the files whose Comments field is tagged "sleep", or whose Genre field contains the word "Jazz".

Thanks if anyone can help me!

  • Do you need a new tech install for cable internet if you had it from a different ISP years ago?

We've had Frontier Fios for a couple years and hate it. We had cable internet from various providers (Time Warner, Comcast, possibly one or two others) over the 10 or so years before that, but Spectrum was not one of them.

We are not adding any new outlets or anything inside of the house but they said that they would need to send a tech out to set up our internet since our address has never been wired for Spectrum. Is that true, or are they just trying to get us to pay an extra $50 for someone to come plug the modem into the wall?

  • Is there a program to create portable photo galleries?

I would like to create a gallery or slideshow of my photos that I could then burn to a CD to share with family. Not a web gallery. Is there any program that does this?

  • Is it illegal to take trash from an abandoned building?

Trashbags full of discarded but still useable items ( things that could be found at Goodwill such as good condition clothes and books) left inside of a vacated and semi-gutted building for which a demolition permit has been issued. The building has some approximately 3 foot high panels of plastic netting in the major doorways but the side Windows are completely open with no hindrance whatsoever and the items in question are in full view. The property is not fenced or enclosed in any way and there is no signage of any kind anywhere in it. Would it be considered trespassing and/ or burglary to remove the items?

  • What can you do with an Xbox One that you can't do with an Xbox 360?

Give me specifics please, like are there more apps available on Xbox One, more/ better accessories, a better web browser, etc? I mainly use mine (Xbox 360) for watching DVD's and streaming music/ video from my PC, but if there's more fun stuff with the One that I'm missing out on, I'd like to find out. Thanks!

  • How to drill matching pilot holes to attach two block to each other?

I have two 2x2x8 inch blocks that I want to attach to each other end-to-end (on the square sides) with a wooden dowel through the center.

I plan to drill into the first block and insert the dowel halfway, then insert the other end of the dowel through a matching hole in the other block, so that they are flush. How to I make sure that the pilot holes are lined up between the two blocks?

  • How to keep honey bees off porch?

We've been having to keep the front porch patio light off because when it's on it attracts tens if not hundreds of honey bees. In the morning, a graveyard of dead bees is found on the porch. They are suicidally attracted to it.

What exactly is it about the light that kills them? Is it the warmth? Will a yellow LED light keep them away from the porch? We've tried yellow incandescent ones but they didn't work one bit! We don't want to kill them, just keep them off the porch.

  • How to format a column in Excel based on the value of a preceding cell?

I have a column with heading, "Tasks". Under this heading I have a list of tasks "Task1", "Task2", etc. (open-ended so that new tasks are added under the heading as needed).

The heading is centered; I want any Tasks that are listed under this heading to be formatted so that the text is indented to the right. Is it possible to create a formula or something to specify this formatting so that I don t have to manually go back and indent the entries?

    Thanks!

  • What causes undigested food in both stool and vomit? (Graphic)?

So 3-4 hours ago (around 4:30pm) I started feeling mildly nauseous. I didn t think much of it until unrealized it had been going on for a while. Over the next few hours it got worse and my stomach got bloated (felt like it was full of air)

I went to the bathroom around 7pm and had a little bit of loose stool that had pieces of some salad greens I had had on a sandwich for lunch around 1pm. I felt a little bit better but stomach was still bloated. 20 minutes later the nausea got Even worse and I knew I was soon to throw up, which also had pieces of the salad greens from earlier. Immediately afterward my stomach was no longer bloated and I felt normal again.

What could have caused this? I don t have a history of digestive issues, acid reflux, etc and am otherwise healthy.

  • Water supply line under sink leaking?

So. I am replacing my kitchen sink faucet. It s already installed over the sink but I have not yet attached the lines.

I have the water supply under the sink shut off. The lines from the wall are not connect to the lines from the sink. With the water supply under the sink turned off, One of the lines from the wall is dripping water from the end that would connect to the line coming from the faucet. Does this mean that the valve under the sink is leaking? Do I need to shut off the main water supply to the whole house? Thanks!

  • How to mathematically find the midpoint of a series of numbers?

Say you have a series of numbers from 1 to 160. Every time you increase the count from 1, you also decrease the count from 160 (1/160, 2/159, 3/158, etc). Is there some kind of equation or way to calculate which number is the point at which the series "folds over on itself"?

In other words, how to find at which number of any given series of numbers you would converge if you started counting towards the middle from either end of the series?

  • Can sweat stains on a shirt be hidden with dye?

I have a light pink cotton T-shirt that had sweat/ deodorant/ perfume stains on the sleeves where they meet the torso. Most of it came out with vinegar & baking soda, but there is still some faint yellow-ish discoloring. It s a meaningful shirt and the rest of it still looks great, so I want to salvage it if possible.

Would detaching the sleeves at the seams and dyeing them a darker pink hide the stain?

  • Can a tailor turn a cap sleeve into a regular short sleeve?

I've found a great summer dress, but it has cap sleeves. Assuming there is enough material (the hem will also need to be shortened by a couple inches), would it be possible to extend the cap sleeve into a "normal" short sleeve length (enough to not flash armpits)?

Also, can the v-neck of a wrap dress (not the same as in the first question) be taken up so that it's not so low?

    Thanks!

  • Can a faded sweater be restored?

An embellishment session went awry and I ended up with stray iron-on glue in two unintended spots on this sweater. I got out as much of the glue as possible (I imagine the trace residue will come out in a few more spot washes), but the real problem is that my initial scrubbing attempts with a damp, soapy washcloth ended up fading out some of the color! It's not horrible, but it IS apparent and it makes me so mad every time I see it.

I really don't want to add anymore "stuff" to the sweater (decoration to cover up the spots), so, short of buying a new one and starting over, is there any way that the fading can be repaired at home or maybe by a tailor? It's a royal blue sweater, 81% cotton, 16% nylon, 3% spandex.

    Thanks!

  • What happens if you don't pay a returned item fee?

I had $10 in a checking account I never use at "Bank 1", so I made an electronic transfer to move it into my other checking account at a different, online only "Bank 2" that I do use. Trouble is, I FORGOT I had already put the transfer in about a week before, and I made a *second* $10 transfer. What happened is that the original, good transfer went through fine, but the 2nd transfer was reversed by "Bank 1" (where it was coming from) and then charged a $35 ACH returned item fee. They had sent the money, then they took the money back before it was ever made available to be used.

    1) I'm opted out of courtesy pay at both banks, so I don't get why "Bank 1" charged a $35 fee for allowing the transfer to go through and then reversing it; shouldn't it have been declined to begin with if I don't have courtesy pay enabled?

    2) As I said, I basically never use the checking account at "Bank 1" except for the rare occasion I'd need to send a check to someone I wouldn't want having my bank and routing numbers. They are a terrible bank and the only reason I'm still a member is because my oldest credit card is through them and I'm not quite ready to close that card yet. Since there's no activity on the account (last time it was used prior to this $10 transfer mess was almost two years ago), nothing gets paid from it or is linked to it, there's no possibility of it being further overdrawn and bouncing checks to creditors, etc. That being said, what consequences would ensue if I do not pay the returned item fee? Currently the balance is only overdrawn the $35 fee, as the 2nd $10 transfer was reversed. Any credit score damage, legal issues if the account just sits there at -$35? I don't care if they want to close the account, cancel the credit card, etc.

  • How to leave job during probation period?

I just started job at Company A last month and will be under probation period for 90 days. Due to various internal confusion and miscommunication I only recently was able to begin training for the position. Now I am considering a better opportunity at my previous employer Company B (similar work but more pay, in different department from where I was before) which, if offered, I would not hesitate to take. It's a good organization and the work is not bad, but the compensation is even worse than I was told during the hiring process and I don't really feel like I fit in with the existing company culture on a personal level. It was also very unsettling being at the mercy of their unpredictable confusion for nearly my entire first month. My position is an entry-level one in which a fair number of more new hires are imminent, so it wouldn't exactly be an irreplaceable blow to them if I were to leave right now before being fully settled in.

Problem: Do I include Company A on my resume sent to Company B? I'm not worried about a gap by not including them, but would Company B be able to find that employment even if I don't disclose it on my resume? If asked in an interview why I left Company A (especially so soon after starting), how could I explain the reason in a professional-sounding way?

Problem #2: How do I explain to Company A my reason for leaving so soon? Obviously I wouldn't expect a good reference from them for my next job, but for the sake of professional courtesy is it enough to reference the apparent lack of a good fit after a shaky start while still in probation?

    Thanks!

  • How to measure cotton that is not preshrunk?

I am pondering a 100% cotton garment that has not been preshrunk before construction. Do I need to increase my given measurements or go up a size to account for the subsequent shrinking, and if so, by how much?

    Thanks!
