I paid for renovations on a relatives house with a verbal agreement that we would sell it and split the profit as a result of my investment?
The mortgage for the home is $295,000 and after the recent increase in home prices and with the new rennovations it is valued at $400,000. We made a verbal agreement prior to any work that the home was to be sold upon completion at that price point. Since then family tensions and their money problems have caused our relationship to deteriorate and there is ill will between us. Now after my $17,000 invested ( with another 5,000 of work to be completed ) my relative has decided to not sell the house and pay me the 17,000 I have invested by taking out a loan. The value of the home has considerably increased as a result of my investments. This venture was supposed to yield a roughly 35,000$ profit for each of us and I have since invested money in other areas under the assumption that I would be receiving this return in the near future which has placed a financial burden on myself. What are the legal peramters to this scenario and is there any action that can be taken on my part to ensure the agreement it s executed as originally agreed upon?
5 AnswersInvesting4 years agoIf my provisional patent was accepted, does this mean that if I apply for a non provisional patent that it will be accepted?
I recently obtained a provisional patent on my invention through a patent attorney.
I'd like to know if this means that it will be processed and awarded before I spend the money.
There are no other products or inventions like mine. Thanks!
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics5 years agoHow do you cut into the first layer of two layers of plywood without cutting into the second layer?
I have a large wooden boat that I need to do some wood repairs to. I'd like to learn how to do it myself as this is a project I'm doing in my spare time, everything else need I am capable of doing and I'd like to say I did the whole restoration myself. I'm stumped with the wood, excuse the pun.
There is a vertical wall with some plywood rot as a result of a water leak from heavy rains over time.
Starting from the inside there is a one inch layer of plywood, then another one inch layer of plywood and the outside of the wall has fiberglass over the second one inch layer.
My question is, how do I cut into the wall only an inch to remove the layer of rotten plywood without going all the way through the wall so that I can cut and replace with new wood?
I imagine there is a specific hand tool/ saw that has controllable depth but any positive input and advice and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
6 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)5 years agoWhat are some creative out of the box ways that I can use my 65 foot yacht to make money without it leaving the dock?
Thanks for looking! I'm not really interested in having it leave the dock or chartered or anything, more along the lines of renting it for business conferences, as an apartment, massage/ art/ yoga/ music studio??? Rent as an office for accounting or tutoring office?
It's 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, 2 living rooms, almost 1500 square feet.
Anything you can think of is appreciated!just wanted to ask the world what you thought!

Small Business5 years agoCOAST GUARD AND NAVY RECRUIT QUESTION?
It seems as though anyone short of prince harry is not even considered eligible to join the coast guard. I have a childhood surgery on a joint that Im almost positive is going to result in a DQ at MEPS. Is this the same with the navy? Does the navy have a higher rate of waiver approval? anyone ever had a coast guard waiver for instability of joints? Will the navy accept someone with this issue? I have had corrective surgery and it is as good as new. Compared to the average man I am stronger and it really bothers me to have a 10 year old issue prohibit me because I am required to check a box saying I have this history on the application for the coast guard.

They change almost instantly. I understand that the stock price is what it was last sold at, but who and where are the people reporting these numbers everyday?

1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance6 years agoSTUDENT LOAN/ FINANCE QUESTIONS?
I AM CURRENTLY ACCEPTED TO A CAL STATE UNIVERSITY.
I HAVE BEEN TOLD, AND SEEN ON SEVERAL SOURCES ONLINE THAT STUDENT LOANS COVER LIVING EXPENSES WHILE YOUR IN SCHOOL, ON OR OFF CAMPUS. I CURRENTLY BUY RESTORE AND SELL CLASSIC BOATS AS A HOBBY. BEING AROUND BOATS, AND THINKING ABOUT THE HIGH COST OF LIVING EXPENSES, I HAVE BEEN LOOKING INTO BUYING A BOAT TO LIVE ON WHILE IM FINISHING UP MY ACCOUNTING DEGREE.
I FIND BOATS ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS THAT ARE SUITABLE, AND THE COSTS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY LESS MONTH TO MONTH THEN A TYPICAL APARTMENT OR SMALL UNIT.
CONSIDER THIS:
Tuition Fees (6.1 units or more) $5,963
Room and Board $12,210
Books & Supplies $1,261
Personal $1,338
Transportation $1,457
$12,210 / 12= 1018 $ /MONTH RENT WITH UTILITIES FOR 1 OF MY TWO YEARS.
A BERTH FEE AT THE LOCAL MARINA FOR THE STALL IS 3704 $ ANNUALLY
IF I TOOK 7500 $ A PURCHASED A LIVE-ABOARD VESSEL, AND PAID 3704 $ FOR "RENT", THAT WOULD LEAVE A 1,006 $ REMAINDER FOR UTILITIES( 100 $ A MONTH . THE BENEFIT IS THAT THE FOLLOWING YEAR I WOULD ONLY HAVE TO PAY THE 3,704 $ + UTILITIES INSTEAD OF THE ORIGINAL 12, 210. WHILE I LIVE ON THE BOAT, WITH MY HOBBY OF WORKING ON BOATS I CAN RESTORE AND APPRECIATE THE VALUE OF THE BOAT, AND ULTIMATELY RESELL IT TO PAY A LARGE PORTION OF MY STUDENT LOAN BACK.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO THIS? AND HOW IS MONEY DISBURSED IN A STUDENT LOAN TO PAY FOR EXPENSES? THANK YOU.

3 AnswersBoats & Boating8 years agoMerc 1250 125 hp troubleshoot.?
i have a 1968 merc 1250 125 horsepower inline 6 outboard. I recently purchased this engine and controls and installed iron my boat, and i replaced the cables which is a problem that i just overcame with adjusting the cables. when i open up the throttle the engine bogs out and shuts down. it fires right back up and will repeat the whole process every time i try. it runs fine with ear muffs and achieves full throttle. i was told it was a possible carb butterfly adjustment? has clean carbs but i just wanted to see if anyone has had this problem and fixed it or may know what is wrong.

3 AnswersBoats & Boating9 years agoHELP FINDING A MARINE MECHANIC SCHOOL?
Im a student in community college and i have one more semester left until i finish my general education requirements to transfer to a university. While I've been in college, i have been restoring old classic fiberglass runabout boats for fun, and it has introduced me to many different paths that spark my interests and I'm having trouble choosing the correct way. do to the inflation of college tuition, i was looking into joining the coast guard to help cover costs, have a military background for the job market, as well involvement with the maritime world as an MK (mechanic). It is not necessary but it would be a smart financial route to take, however my concern is that i cannot choose where i am stationed after basic training, because i would like to attend the college of my choice here in california. This makes me think i should join the coast guard after i graduate from college as an officer, but somewhere i would like to go to a marine mechanic school and become certified as a marine mechanic to maybe turn my hobbies into some form of a business. i have seen the marine mechanics institute, as well as wyotech but they do not have any schools in california.i also can't find any schools online so i need some help. does anyone know of any marine mechanic school similar to the curriculum of the mmi and wyotech program in CALIFORNIA. i really appreciate any positive input. thanks
